HYDAC is a fluid power leader that specializes in the design and development of custom solutions for the mobile and industrial markets. We are currently seeking a qualified Product Applications Engineer at our Glendale Heights facility. The Product Applications Engineer will be responsible for evaluating customer(s) business needs, designing, and quoting solutions in support of the HYDAC products within key markets. This role is customer facing and will work in conjunction with the HYDAC sales team and other division personnel to ensure project success and division growth goals. The Product Application Engineer will also work closely with Product Managers to gather customer and market feedback as well as support the technical promotion of HYDAC products.
Tasks:

  • Will be responsible for technical development, quoting, and presentation of product division solutions that meets the specifications and requirements of HYDAC customers and key markets.
  • Supports for the Sales team in the development, maintenance, and growth of HYDAC target customers and/or distribution partners through technical expertise and application knowledge to close the final sale.
  • Responsible for project management of new applications designs and requirements as specified by customers. Will lead and drive the success of the product development process through the prototyping phase of a project.
  • Coordinates with Design Engineering on the development of documentation and models in support of the quoting process. This would include datasheet and model generation, customer approvals and sign-off, and revision requirements.
  • Coordinates with Manufacturing and Operation to ensure product viability in production and to meet customer timelines.
  • Coordinate with Purchasing to technically evaluate bids from vendors to meet requirements and specifications for customer projects and new products.
  • Provides timely reports summarizing findings on business development activities including active projects, prototypes, and awarded business.
  • Provides support to Product management and Marketing regarding sales inquiries, market research, promotional material, application knowledge, competitive product knowledge, and engineering analysis.
  • May provide technical training to customers and distribution partners.
  • Participate and lead product division continuous improvement projects to drive positive change throughout the business
  • Must maintain the highest degree of customer service, throughput, and quality to preserve a premier experience with our internal and external customers
Requirements
  • Must be able to travel up to 30% of the time.
  • Knowledge of common engineering concepts, practices, standards, and procedures.
  • Must be a self-starter and able to follow through on projects as they are developed and/or assigned.
  • Able to develop effective relationships with Customers, Sales, and Management and division team members.
  • Competency and experience with Solid Works or similar 3D software. Experience with Fluid system circuit design suites like MD Tools is preferred.
  • Must possess the business acumen to be a critical thinker and able to strategically plan and support HYDAC customers and business strategies.
  • Problem solving: Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; gathers and analyzes information skillfully.
  • Customer Service: Looks for ways to improve and promote quality; demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness.
  • Ability to write technical documentation and quotes, present said information, and respond to questions from external and internal customers.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree with a related technology focus required. Engineering Degree is preferred
  • Three to Five years of Engineering Design, Manufacturing Design, or Application engineering experience, preferably within an engineered solution-based company.
  • Technical competence with fluid power components and systems. Cartridge and manifold design knowledge are preferred
  • Understanding of business financials and analysis; quoting experience is preferred.
  • Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Fluid power society certification is desirable.
  • Leadership experience is desirable
  • Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and within the future.
