The Opportunity

Sambatek is currently seeking a Project Engineer to work with a team to execute transportation engineering projects. As a project engineer, this individual will be responsible for the production and development of project documents using specified standards and examples while following specific process and procedures. This person must strike a balance between learning and producing, becoming more efficient over time and more capable of contributing to an increasingly wider variety of subtasks and assignments. With this balance comes the responsibility to proactively seek direction and feedback within a team setting while growing increasingly independent. Throughout this growth, the ability to communicate well will be paramount to success.

Work Location: Hybrid- in-office while training, flexible hybrid thereafter

Projected start date: May 2025

Qualified candidate will:

  • Contribute to highway projects in preliminary design phase or plan development phase
  • Measure, calculate, and tabulate quantities for bidding purposes
  • Participate in quality review processes
  • Perform CAD drafting in MicroStation, GEOPAK, and OpenRoads Designer
  • Perform subtasks for a task lead or project manager as part of a collaborative team
  • Spend time in the field, in addition to the office, to perform construction inspection, material testing, and see transportation project sites to grow as a designer

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
  • 0-3 years of relevant experience
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) preferred
  • Basic working knowledge of AutoCAD and/or MicroStation
  • Experience using Bentley GEOPAK and corridor modeling experience preferred
  • Strong self-motivation and communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Ability to manage tasks on a project with strong attention to detail

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Work is primarily performed in an office environment
  • Ability to occasionally move equipment/objects weighing up to 10 pounds
