The opportunity
Reporting to the Senior Director/AVP, Philanthropy, the Senior Manager, Corporate Giving will be responsible for leading, overseeing, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding new corporate partnerships with some of the largest national brands and companies across any array of collaborations including employee giving, cause related marketing, shared value partnerships, corporate social responsibility, gifts in-kind, sponsorship and cash donations to meet MODC’s fundraising and brand awareness objectives.
The incumbent will contribute to the design and implementation of corporate partnership initiatives and activities to meet revenue goals, while creating transformational and mutually beneficial relationships between MODC and a wide range of partners to bring maximum impact for our mission.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead MODC’s corporate partnership and sponsorship program in conjunction with the Senior Director/AVP, including identifying prospects and aligning them with organizational priorities and programs.
- Assess program and property value, determine sponsorship benefits, and establish appropriate sponsorship valuations.
- Cultivate, steward, and solicit support from existing public and private corporations, and identify and engage new corporate partners.
- Develop innovative partnership opportunities, including sponsorships, employee engagement, event participation, cause-related marketing, promotions, and major gift philanthropic giving.
- Collaborate with the Manager, Stewardship to steward existing relationships and develop new partnerships through philanthropy, sponsorship, cause marketing, and licensing agreements.
- Maintain a portfolio of 150-200 corporate prospects, develop engagement strategies, and move them towards a gift commitment.
- Identify and secure new corporate support by targeting companies whose corporate and social responsibility align with MODC’s strategy and mission.
- Serve as the relationship manager for a pool of corporate donors and prospects, soliciting gifts and pledges in the $10K to $100K range.
- Collaborate with the executive leadership team and senior volunteers to identify, cultivate, and solicit corporate gifts and pledges of $100K+.
- Coordinate meetings, prepare briefing notes, develop presentation materials, and create proposals and correspondence for senior staff and volunteers.
- Develop a diverse national corporate prospect pipeline to move sponsors from the local to national level where possible.
- Conduct rigorous due diligence on corporate partnerships to protect the MODC brand and navigate brand and reputational risks.
- Coordinate internal stakeholders and processes to optimize the corporate donors’ experience, working closely with Program teams to develop proposals for targeted prospects.
- Collaborate with Events, Brand Marketing, and Program teams to integrate corporate partner initiatives and ensure alignment with broader organizational goals.
- Ensure a high degree of accuracy, transparency, and completeness of information in recording donor gifts, pledges, and files in the donor management system, and facilitate appropriate appreciation and recognition efforts.
- Support and oversee the development of corporate fundraising budgets and take ownership of achieving fundraising targets.
- Collaborate with other fundraising disciplines and teams at MODC to contribute to overall fundraising targets and initiatives.
- Maintain knowledge of industry practices and trends in corporate giving, stewardship, reporting, and donor engagement to support best-in-class donor satisfaction, engagement, and giving.
- Act as a subject matter expert within the organization to drive cross-functional collaboration and identify future opportunities.
- Provide leadership and coaching to direct reports.
- Perform other duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Post-secondary diploma or degree in Fundraising, Communications, Marketing, or a related field.
- Minimum of seven years of related work experience; experience in a fundraising environment preferred.
- Demonstrated success in identifying and securing new philanthropic partnerships with corporations at a $10K+ level.
- Certified Fund-Raising Executive (CFRE) designation or equivalent is an asset.
- Bilingual in French is considered an asset.
- Experience managing relationships with senior executives and/or corporate donors.
- A “people person” with a positive can-do attitude.
- Comfortable working to targets, with several years of experience managing income targets from both new and existing sources.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with senior stakeholders and donors.
- Excellent organizational, planning, and time management skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Capable of exercising independent judgment and flexibility.
- Ability to work in teams or independently with minimal administrative support.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office, and experience using a CRM database.
