How you make a difference:
The Mental Health Rehabilitation Specialist is responsible for organizing, implementing, and providing daily care to clients in a team-based environment, ensuring that treatment plans are being followed by team members. They are proficient in crisis de-escalation skills and possess strong interpersonal skills to lead and mentor a team of program staff members. The position ensures compliance with department protocols, policies, and facility standards, while providing superior guidance for staff interactions with difficult to work with clients.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide hands-on support to Program Staff members, ensuring appropriate and safe client support.
Oversee and assist in the assessment of client needs, crisis intervention, and adherence to policy and procedure.
Assist in coordinating department personnel and day-to-day activities, conducting training sessions, and ensuring compliance with guidelines and objectives.
Report status and progress of work to supervisors, answer questions, and discuss problems concerning worker training with supervision and training personnel.
Evaluate and document outcomes achieved, and participate in the plan of care for clients.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Education
Baccalaureate degree and four years of experience in a mental health setting as a specialist in the fields of physical restoration, social adjustment, or vocational adjustment.
Up to two years of graduate professional education may be substituted for the experience requirement on a year–to–year basis; up to two years of post associate arts clinical experience may be substituted for the required education.
Experience
M.A. or M.S. in Psychology, Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Counseling, or related field (or graduating within 3 months) preferred.
Minimum of (6) months to one (1) year of experience as a Mental Health Rehabilitation Specialist or Clinical Specialist or other mental health worker experience that has provided the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform satisfactorily the duties of the position (preferred).
Completion of the core competencies of the Psychosocial Rehabilitation Specialist (PSRS), Mental Health Rehabilitation Specialist, and/or Clinical Specialist highly preferred.
Six (6) months to one (1) year of increasingly responsible mental health experience including some lead and/or supervisory experience. (Preferred)
Experience in long term acute care (preferred)
Bilingual (Preferred)
Licenses/Certifications
Current CPR/BLS certification (required)
Possession of a valid driver’s license as the position may require driving company vehicles. (Preferred)
Registered intern, licensed or licensed eligible as Psychologist, MFT, LCSW, LPCC (Preferred). All licensed personnel will be required to obtain and provide a National Provider Number (NPI number) to Human Resources for reporting purposes.
CPI Certification (provided by the facility within first 90 days of employment). Interest in Crisis Intervention Training Certification and ongoing education preferred (CPI facilitator certification)
