The Storage and Backup Engineer occupies a critical position within the Data Center Services team in Platform Services, reporting directly to the Lead Storage and Backup Administrator. The Engineer will engage in the planning, design, and implementation of storage solutions that meet UCSF's requirements, while also developing and executing backup strategies and policies to ensure data integrity and availability during restoration processes.
The Engineer will work closely with the Lead Storage and Backup Administrator to manage the provisioning, monitoring, upgrading, and capacity planning for the storage environment, ensuring compliance with data security regulations and UCSF's internal policies. The Engineer will provide technical expertise and guidance for day-to-day operations to ensure optimized performance and assist in the implementation of storage and backup policies and solutions aligned with the broader Platform Services goals.
The Storage and Backup Engineer will positively impact UCSF's operations and culture by ensuring UCSF's IT infrastructure is operable, secure, efficient, and effective in service of the University's mission. The Storage and Backup Engineer will advance the University's mission by delivering exceptional information technology services comprehensively and consistently across customers and stakeholders. The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.
The salary range for this position is $132,400 - $198,600 (Annual Rate).
