Position: VP of Risk Management
The VP of Risk Management is responsible for identifying and assessing potential risks to the organization as well as managing and directing certain functions within the organization to minimize adverse impacts to the company.
Minimum Requirements:
- Normally requires a 4-year degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or business-related field such as Finance or Business Administration and typically 10+ years’ related experience, 4 of which is in a leadership or management capacity.
- A Certified Risk Manager accreditation is preferred but not required.
- Up to 30% travel required by both air and ground.
- Working knowledge of all Microsoft Office suite applications with advanced knowledge in Excel as well as scheduling and job costing software.
- Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with a wide cross-section of individuals.
- Must be able to organize and manage multiple priorities.
- Excellent investigative, interviewing, and mediation skills.
Responsibilities:
- Constantly monitor and conduct risk assessments over the entire operations and advise Sr. Management of findings, including a proposed mitigation plan.
- Ensure Insurance, Bonding, and Legal relationships are maintained to protect the interests of the organization.
- Coordinate insurance matters with internal departments, owners, KUSA, and brokers as required to ensure proper coverages are in place, including projects.
- Respond to claims to ensure timely reporting and notice to carriers, including legal if required. Assist in and monitor as necessary through claim settlement.
- Coordinate and participate as necessary in the review of contracts and subcontracts. As requested, may participate in negotiations related to matters of risk.
- Provide management and oversight to the Safety and Q/C Programs of the organization.
- Provide management and oversight to the Subcontractor Prequalification process and procedures.
- Ensure the Anti-Bribery and Anti-Corruption program are up to date and annual training is provided to all employees.
- Develop relationships with the leadership in all offices to aid in the discovery and solution of risk issues.
- Manage one or more individuals working in Risk Management related functions. This may include individual(s) at a Director administrative level.
- Collect risk-related data (internal and external) and create documentation for Sr. Management to keep them apprised of trends and overall risk concerns, including potential financial impacts to the organization.
