The Chief Medical Officer (CMO) provides strategic leadership and medical oversight of the quality, performance improvement, and resource utilization for the Community Provider Network (CPN), Community Health Partners (CHP), and its affiliates ("Medical Groups").
• This role works collaboratively with physicians and administrative leads to set the quality and performance improvement agendas for CPN and CHP, with the ultimate goal of creating a clinical integrated network of physicians with common clinical standards delivering the highest quality, comprehensive, cost-effective medical care and services.
• The CMO evaluates data as compared to competitive benchmarks to establish goals for patient experience, safety, clinical quality, reduction in unnecessary variation, and resource utilization.
• Oversees the infrastructure and resources needed to maximize success, monitor achievement, and implement performance improvement.
• Establishes a culture that promotes population health, proactively addresses the impact of consumerism, values evidence-based guidelines, and employs the principles of LEAN and other systems for reducing waste and valuing the contributions of the people doing the work.
• Through the Credentialing and Peer Review systems, the CMO establishes systems for ensuring the highest level of professionalism in all the Medical Groups and a fair system for screening, coaching, and counseling healthcare professionals.
• The CMO is the primary liaison and is accountable for all public reporting with federal, state, private payers, and all regulatory agencies for matters related to patient experience, clinical quality and appropriate resource use.

• Extensive knowledge and skills using computer applications, especially spreadsheet, online analytic processing tools and statistical functions

• Ability to organize and manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Ability to develop and maintain productive relationships with team members

• Medical licensing and credentialing standards and requirements
• Ethical issues in medicine
Education
• Medical degree from an accredited medical school accompanied by board certification required
• Master's Degree in Business Administration, Public Health or Medical Management to work effectively with administrative management preferred
Experience
• 10 years of significant leadership experience in medical management, including administration, change management, quality assurance and participation on medical staff committees required
• Clinical practice experience in a physician group practice/ambulatory care group preferred
Licenses and Certifications
• PHYSICIAN - Physician MD License (or license eligible) to practice medicine in California required
• ABMSBC - American Board of Medical Specialties Board Certification required
