We're currently working on a key hire for an operating company based out of Houston. This role reports directly to the Engineering Manager and collaborates with Project Managers, Designers, Controls Engineers, and Vessel Engineers to deliver technically sound, high-quality packages for manufacturing. You will also support various teams during the manufacturing, startup, commissioning, and warranty phases. The role will be 5 days a week on-site in East Houston paying between $100 - $120 per hour through a W-2 set up.


Key Responsibilities:


Your tasks will include, but are not limited to:


  • Design and engineer gas compression packages in line with established engineering/design standards, industry practices, and project specifications.
  • Review and interpret project documentation and quotations for one or more projects.
  • Evaluate vendor proposals (e.g., heat exchangers, control valves) for adherence to project requirements.
  • Select and size system components (e.g., regulators, control valves, pumps).
  • Calculate pressure relief valves and depressurization systems per API 520/521 standards.
  • Develop bills of materials.
  • Manage multiple projects, both domestic and international.
  • Assist Sales and Applications teams with proposal creation.
  • Contribute to project scheduling and provide engineering status updates.
  • Participate in both internal and client project meetings.
  • Collaborate closely with the design team to produce accurate assembly and fabrication drawings.
  • Lead internal design reviews to ensure compliance with applicable standards and project specifications.
  • Address changes in project scope by working with the design team and Project Manager to create change orders.
  • Assist the shop team in resolving fabrication issues and ensuring product quality.
  • Monitor and adhere to the project budget for engineering hours.
  • Prioritize workload to meet project deadlines.
  • Ensure final project documentation aligns with client requirements.
  • Proactively manage and resolve project challenges as they arise.
  • Help maintain and improve engineering and design standards.
  • Provide support to the service team during unit commissioning.
  • Assist in evaluating warranty claims.


Required Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience with engineering reciprocating natural gas compression packages.
  • Strong knowledge of ANSI B31.3 and mechanical systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with design and fabrication teams.
  • Commitment to accuracy, quality, and attention to detail.
  • Good organizational and planning skills.


Preferred Qualifications:


  • PE certification.
  • Experience in power generation or offshore gas environments.
