Smashing Dishes and Tony Caters has a terrific opportunity for an experienced and savvy catering Event Lead.
We are seeking an events professional who builds trust with clients and exhibits leadership and grace with the event service team who reports to them at offsite catered events. Founded in 2009, our company is fun, fast-paced and always growing.
This is an on-call position, and while most events take place in the south bay and lower peninsula, we cater throughout the greater Bay Area.

This is an on-call position, and while most events take place in the south bay and lower peninsula, we cater throughout the greater Bay Area.
Core Responsibilities:
- Act as the lead interface between company and client to assure a smooth event experience.
- Unless otherwise assigned or scheduled, you are the first and last person onsite at the event, overseeing event set-up and tear down.
- Verify accuracy of warehouse packout and party rentals ordered.
- Familiarity with the event's timeline, equipment plan, style of service and menu
- Interface with kitchen staff to coordinate meal service; and for smaller events you are responsible for finishing trays and setting out food.
- Direct supervision and leadership of front of house staff - food and beverage - which includes scheduling breaks/meals, ensuring adherence to event timeline, and ensuring their dress/attire (uniform appearance), professionalism with guests and clients, timekeeping for event workers.
- Working collaboratively with company leadership, sales staff and kitchen management to understand what venues, clients and coworkers consider a successful event.
- Bilingual in English/Spanish recommended
- Attention to detail and patience with stakeholders
- Minimum of 2 years experience as catering event lead or captain, preferably in the field of off-premise
