WHAT YOU'LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR IN THIS ROLE
The Brand Manager will work closely with the Associate Director - Disruptive Innovation and M&A Strategy to spearhead disruptive innovation, identifying consumer-driven platform opportunities across existing and new categories. This role will also support M&A pipeline development and due diligence, playing a key part in driving the company's growth strategy. As part of the newly formed Disruptive Innovation and M&A Strategy team, this position will work in close alignment with the Bolthouse Farms and Evolution Fresh brand teams. While this role is primarily remote, the Brand Manager will participate in strategic collaboration sessions as needed in Bakersfield, Rancho Cucamonga, Los Angeles, or Chicago. The ideal candidate is a forward-thinking strategist, an innovation expert, data-driven, and an exceptional collaborator.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
  • The job requirements include, but are not limited to the following:
Innovation
  • Lead development of "new to world" and/or "new to category" disruptive innovation platform by identifying, sizing and prioritizing new whitespace opportunities that have a strong consumer benefit and point of differentiation, complement existing portfolio, and maximize incrementality
  • Develop concepts, positioning, portfolio differentiation, claims direction, pricing strategy, and financial forecasts for new products
  • Partner with Consumer insights to deeply understand the wants and needs of new and existing consumers. Lead development of concept and positioning, and validation with consumers
  • Lead large cross-functional innovation projects with multiple stakeholders, complex inputs and time sensitive deadlines. Partner with key functions including Commercialization, R&D, Operations, Brand, and Sales to bring new items from concept through first production, and facilitate successful hand-off to Brand Management team for go-to-market launch planning
M&A Strategy & Due Diligence
  • Support the identification and evaluation of M&A opportunities, assisting in building the pipeline by assessing potential target companies and providing a definitive point of view on attractiveness
  • Support due diligence of potential acquisition targets, including market and company analysis and developing a thesis on operational value creation levers
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA preferred
  • Minimum 4 years of brand management experience in CPG
  • Prior early funnel innovation and commercialization experience
  • A strong collaborator with experience leading external agency partners and internal cross functional teams
  • A deep understanding of how to read, interpret and build models from syndicated data such as IRI or Nielsen
  • A strong analytical mindset and ability to draw insightful conclusions from consumer research
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and team working skills
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, fast-changing environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including presenting to senior business leaders
  • Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, and syndicated data (i.e. Nielsen, SPINS, IRI)
  • Proven, reliable work history

Preferred Qualifications:
  • MBA
  • At least 2 years of experience in innovation specific role with proven track record of launching successful innovation within food and beverage industry
  • Experience in management consulting or investment banking a plus
Physical Demands:
  • May be required to sit or stand for an extended period of time during work period
HOURS & WORKDAYS:
  • 1st shift (8:00am-5:00pm) Monday through Friday, when business requires before/after hours will be mandatory
