Description:

The Department of Physics & Astronomy ( ) at Stony Brook University invites applications for two full-time lecturer positions for its undergraduate division with an expected start date in January 2025/Spring 2025 Semester.

The Department benefits from its highly ranked faculty in research and teaching, excellent students, its close affiliation with experimental and theoretical research centers of international reputation, and its proximity to BNL.

The successful candidate will demonstrate an excellent educational preparation (MA or MAT in Physics), a minimum of 2 years teaching experience at the High School or University level, and a strong commitment to educating and mentoring undergraduate physics students. The person holding this position will report to the Chair of the Physics and Astronomy Department.

A Ph.D. in Physics or closely related discipline and an established teaching record as primary instructor in an undergraduate physics program is strongly preferred.

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:
MA/MAT (foreign equivalent or higher) in Physics. Minimum of 2 years teaching experience at the High School or University level. Strong commitment to educating and mentoring undergraduate physics students. Clear and concise oral and written communication and interpersonal and analytical skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
Ph.D. (or foreign equivalent) in Physics or closely related discipline. Established teaching record as primary instructor in an undergraduate physics program. Experience working with a diverse student body and/or the ability to contribute to diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts in the Department and University.

Approved Salary Range: $60,000 - $70,000 plus Location Pay of $3,400 (Lecturer 10)
