Your Future Team
Hightower's Compliance Department strives to provide industry-leading support to the firm's advisor teams. We are passionate about serving as collaborators within all facets of the organization and focus on developing processes and strategies that are effective for advisors, their clients, and other mid and back-office departments while adhering to the spirit of the regulation.
This position reports to an Executive Director of Compliance and is predominantly self-directed and self-motivated. To be successful in this role, you must have a strong understanding of registered investment adviser and broker-dealer regulations and compliance requirements, as well as excellent communication and analytical skills.
What You'll Do
  • Evaluate, enhance, and implement BSA and OFAC policies and practices, including ensuring the firm is in full compliance with the new requirements for RIAs by the compliance date.
  • Execute the day-to-day BSA and OFAC required functions of the broker-dealer and registered investment adviser, authoring detailed narratives and conducting investigations as necessary.
  • Prepare and file required suspicious activity reports, liaising with regulators as necessary.
  • Conduct ongoing compliance monitoring and reviews to ensure the firm complies with its regulatory obligations and that any deficiencies are corrected promptly.
  • Provide expert advice on BSA and OFAC requirements and policies as they relate to Hightower's business models.
  • Create, develop, and deliver relevant training to business and functional partners.
  • Evaluate and respond to escalated matters; further escalate unusual activity as needed. Advise senior management on the next steps.
  • Perform BSA and OFAC-related compliance quality and testing, evaluate process deficiencies, analyze control measures, enhance reporting capabilities, and recommend corrective actions while satisfying regulatory and audit commitments.
  • Analyze and identify issues and trends, recommending and driving program enhancements.
  • Develop and track improvement or remediation plans.
  • Monitor and analyze regulatory changes and ensure the organization adapts accordingly.
  • Maintain and create compliance desk procedures.
  • Interact with and support personnel at all levels of the Firm's various business units.
  • Support the Compliance Department with various projects as required.
  • Foster a positive compliance culture.
What You'll Bring

  • 7+ years of professional experience in BSA/AML compliance roles, preferably working for a registered investment advisor and/or broker-dealer.
  • Effective at prioritization of workload with competing priorities while producing high-quality work.
  • Ability to independently analyze issues and requirements with the critical process understanding of business practices and implications and assist with the continued refinement of a supervisory control framework.
  • Highly responsive and proactive, able to own tasks from start to finish.
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently with minimal supervision, while being equally comfortable working collaboratively.
  • Experience drafting, remediating, and implementing policies and procedures.
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office applications and IARD.
  • Deep understanding of SEC and FINRA rules and regulations as they relate to Hightower's business model.
  • Strong knowledge of BSA/AML (and related) requirements.
  • Strong organization and project management skills.
  • AML Certification strongly desired, or ability to obtain within 12 months of hire.
