Audubon is currently seeking a Survey Technician II - Instrumentman to join our team. This role will be working in various states including but not limited to the following: TX, OK, PA, MO, KS, LA, ND, SD CO. The Survey Technician II - Instrumentman reports to the Survey Party Chief, the Survey Mapping Manager and Operations Manager when applicable. The Survey Technician II - Instrumentman participates on survey crews engaged in surveying.

Audubon is currently seeking a Survey Technician II - Instrumentman to join our team. This role will be working in various states including but not limited to the following: TX, OK, PA, MO, KS, LA, ND, SD CO. The Survey Technician II - Instrumentman reports to the Survey Party Chief, the Survey Mapping Manager and Operations Manager when applicable. The Survey Technician II - Instrumentman participates on survey crews engaged in surveying.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES :
Key Areas of Responsibility will include:
- Keeps Survey Party Chief apprised of applicable daily survey activities.
- Keeps in close contact with the applicable Survey Party Chief to assure a full understanding of the scope of services of projects.
- Learns to and ultimately assists Party Chief in downloading data collected daily and transmitting the data files.
- Is prepared daily to assist clients in the field including the appropriate attire for field services. This includes but is not limited to your vehicle, steel toed boots, fire resistant clothing, hard hat, safety goggles, gloves, and earplugs.
- Demonstrates the ability to operate GPS, conventional total station, data collectors, and other surveying equipment is required.
- Responsible for submitting time sheet and expense information to the applicable Survey Party Chief weekly by the Survey Party Chief's specified deadline. This includes submitting photographs of receipts being submitting for reimbursement.
- Responsible for contacting the Survey Party Chief and/or Survey and Mapping Manager to trouble shoot any technical difficulties the survey crew encounters.
- Responsible for notifying the Operations Manager immediately if any equipment sustains damage or is not working properly.
- Serves as a mentor, training new Rodman on an as needed basis.
- Attends kick-off meetings with the Survey Manager and clients as needed.
- Performs and participates on survey crews for various surveying services, including but not limited to preliminary surveys, construction staking, as-built surveys, depth of cover surveys, topographic surveys, re-route surveys, crossings surveys, ILI tracking, AGM placement, anomaly staking, and repair documentation and tank surveys/measurements.
- Confirms with the Project Manager that all data has been received and meets the client's needs and scope of services prior to demobilizing from any job site.
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required for the position:
- Minimum of a High School diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Completion of land surveying and land law coursework desirable.
- Requires at least 1+ years of relevant experience performing various types of preliminary surveys, construction staking, as-built surveys, depth of cover surveys, topographic surveys, ILI tracking, AGM placement, anomaly staking, and repair documentation and tank surveys/measurements, 2+ years preferred.
- Knowledge requirements: Working knowledge of survey equipment.
- Demonstrated ability to operate GPS, conventional total station, data collectors, and other surveying equipment is required.
- Working knowledge and operational capabilities on Trimble, Sokkia, RD Locators, Pin Locators units.
- A valid driver's license and clean driving record is required for this position.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Excel desirable.
