GENERAL INTRODUCTION :

The Archbishop is the visible principle and foundation of unity in the particular Church entrusted to him. He employs suitable, chosen collaborators (clerics, religious, or lay people) to fulfill his mission. Each position employed in the Chancery helps to extend the ministry of the Archbishop in particular ways. The mission of the Office of Communications is to extend the ministry of the Archbishop of Seattle, uniting the Catholic Community of Western Washington with the Catholic Church throughout the world.

GENERAL SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL PURPOSE :

We are looking for an experienced Webmaster to join our Communications team. This role is responsible for managing and executing the archdiocesan website strategy based on our specific goals and objectives. The ideal candidate must have excellent communication skills, experience with WordPress, technical website management skills, and familiarity with SEO.

This position is fully onsite, with a possibility of a hybrid schedule, located at the Chancery Offices in Seattle, Washington.

ESSENTIAL POSITION DUTIES:

  1. Manage the execution of the web strategy of the Archdiocese of Seattle website (archseattle.org).
  2. Provide oversight and management of the Northwest Catholic Website (NWCatholic.org).
  3. Manage the content lifecycle for all archdiocesan web properties.
  4. Create and update web pages as necessary, reviewing copy and digital elements.
  5. Ensure that page updates adhere to archdiocesan standards, style guide, and policies.
  6. Act as a subject matter expert for the management of archdiocese web pages.
  7. Manage the external event calendar of the website, fielding all event submissions.
  8. Onboard/train new editors.
  9. Manage the presentation of digital media assets (images, video, documents).
  10. Manage the creation, operation, and distribution of web-based form submissions.
  11. Ensure that content is appropriately represented in search engines through SEO.
  12. Ensure web delivery systems meet availability requirements.
  13. Oversee optimization of all websites, including plug-in updates.
  14. Test all updates to the site to ensure smooth implementation.
  15. Monitor the delivery of RSS content feeds.
  16. Work closely with other ministries to help guide their department’s content strategy.
  17. Work closely with third-party technical support.
  18. Work closely with parish staff to execute their directory changes.
  19. Develop and manage robust analytics reporting to uncover insights that will help shape content strategy and user experience.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS :

  1. Excellent written and verbal communications.
  2. Education : Bachelor’s degree.
  3. Experience :
  4. Proven experience with website management.
  5. Good communication skills including interpersonal communications.
  6. Demonstrated admin experience with WordPress, including plug-in management and update testing.
  7. Proven HTML/CSS experience.
  8. Technical aptitude to troubleshoot and convey needs to vendors and IT.
  9. Strong analytical skills, including Google Analytics experience.
  10. Excellent project management skills.
  11. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  12. Strong team player.
  13. Experience managing WordPress in a cloud environment (Azure) is a plus.
  14. Knowledge of the operation/management of contemporary web platforms is a plus.
  15. Understanding of JavaScript and its role in contemporary websites is a plus.
  16. Experience with Google Analytics and/or Google Search Console is a plus.

Any offered salary is determined based on internal equity, internal salary ranges, market data, applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees, and certifications.
