For more information, visit amwater.com and join American Water on LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. _ Primary Role _ Responsible for supporting all Engineering production needs including, but not limited to: multiple State and District distribution mapping updates, Engineering drafting support, mapping and project plotting and printing, and CAD Software/hardware evaluation and purchases. _ Key Accountabilities _ * Coordinates mapping additions, updates and corrections with district personnel to ensure distribution maps are kept current. Assembles and distributes maps to districts on an annual basis to ensure they are supplied with the most up-to-date information. * Drafts projects from design instructions, rough notes, and sketches using CAD. Assists engineers with drafting and revising district projects to meet permitting and installation requirements. Assembles and distributes project drawing packages to district, state and developers as needed. Creates special exhibit drawings and maps for managers and department heads illustrating water business related information * Demonstrates and instructs new hires with regard to job duties. Examines new hire work products to ensure conformance to company policies and guidelines. * Attends meetings with other Sr CAD Techs, Sr Drafters and departments for determining and implementing Standards and best practices for CAD drafting, drawing and documentation filing. * Assists in evaluating and recommending the purchase of large engineering plotting and copier needs and the purchase of all supplies and maintenance agreements required to support them. _ Knowledge/Skills _ * Knowledge of Drafting, detailed design and AutoCAD, Microstation or other CAD techniques and general engineering concepts and terminology. * Knowledge of Company Policies and Procedures. * Elementary knowledge of engineering concepts related to water treatment, pumping, storage, distribution and transmission facilities. * Basic knowledge of OSHA and other safety standards. * Ability to perform tasks and provide support to all departments and districts with minimal supervision. * Ability to balance workload. * Good AutoCAD skills. _ Experience/Education _ * Minimum of 7 years drafting experience. * High School Degree and Technical Drafting and AutoCAD training required. * Associate's Degree highly preferred, but not required with sufficient design or construction experience to substitute for a college degree. _ Work Environment _ * 95% Office _ Travel Requirements _ * 5% _ Competencies_ Champions safety Customer obsessed Cultivates innovation Nimble learning Drives Results Collaborates * Join American Water...We Keep Life Flowing ™ * American Water is firmly committed to Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and prohibits employment discrimination for employees and applicants based on his or her age, race, color, pregnancy, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, national origin, religion, marital status, citizenship, or because they are an individual with a disability, protected veteran or other status protected by federal, state, and local laws.
