What will your essential responsibilities include?

1. Build and deliver meaningful Data Science and AI models, products, and solutions enabling functions across the insurance value chain such as Underwriting, Claims, Distribution, Operations, etc.
2. Develop, grow, and mentor junior data scientists in delivering meaningful business value while leveraging the latest developments in Data Science and AI.
3. Build, validate, and deploy data science and ML models to address specific business problems with appropriate success criteria defined, tracked, and reported.
4. Manage the end-to-end lifecycle of data science and AI solutions in partnership with Data Science platform, Global Technology, and other relevant teams.
5. Build Data Science, AI, and ML capability to ensure appropriate reuse of relevant assets across the business and potentially with the wider Group.
6. Partner with key areas within Global Technology, Pricing & Underwriting, Transformation & Change Delivery, and other teams for Projects and Business as Usual.
7. Oversee and manage the function’s resource demand and capacity on in-flight projects as well as BAU work.
8. Instill a customer-first attitude on the team, prioritizing service for our business stakeholders above all else.

In this role, you will report to the Division Lead, Data Science Excellence.

We’re looking for someone who has these abilities and skills:

1. Excellent understanding of algorithms and complexities, able to conduct research and develop efficient solutions to meet business needs.
2. Good business acumen and commercial awareness. Experience in commercial insurance is a plus.
3. Proficiency in end-to-end model and software development and deployment.
4. Significant programming experience in Python. Experience with Spark, Microsoft Azure Ecosystem, and Databricks is a plus.
5. Regression, Classification, Natural Language Processing, and Deep Learning experience preferred.
6. Ability to communicate well with leadership team, peers, and teams across the globe.
7. Brings in a collaborative spirit, can-do attitude, and a Customer First mindset.
8. Requires a combination of solid execution, strategic thinking, and ability to ‘connect the dots’.
9. Expected to recommend innovation and improvement to policies, procedures, deploying resources, and performing core activities.
10. A minimum of a bachelor’s or master’s degree in a relevant discipline.
11. Moderate to extensive experience in Data Science, AI, or related roles (Actuarial, Statistics, Analytics, Engineering).
12. Passion for digital, data, and AI and experience working within a digital and data-driven organization.
