We have been retained by our very advanced fintech client, to deliver a DevOps Engineer on a full-time, direct hire basis, 100% remote work from your residence within a 100 mile radius of the Dallas – Fort Worth, Texas metro-plex . This position is 75% on premises Linux server administration , and 25% AWS / Amazon Cloud.


The 75% On Premise Servers work includes Linux Systems administration where you are managing on premise Linux servers while using “Remote Hands” you contact at the data center, place orders or tickets to install Linux servers, configure Linux, patching Linux, updates, network connections, network switching, setting up observability dashboards or show log metrics in dashboards, all Red Hat Linux, On Prem servers in the north east USA, Co-located in a data center. Open up detailed tickets for servers, add slots, add ethernet cables, add NIC’s (network interface cards) – use “Remote Hands” at the data center vendor. Manual steps – to install Red Hat and configure server, can be automated later, to reproduce that process and automate the server software installs with Ansible, or similar tools such as Puppet or Chef.


As a small but agile team, our client seeks to hire individuals who can work on a variety of technologies and wear multiple hats and thrive in a collaborative environment. Our client is seeking a talented and experienced DevOps Engineer to join our team to help them grow and maintain on premises servers , and maintain CI CD releases to the Amazon Cloud, “release with confidence” and ensure their apps are meeting expectations. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the reliability, availability, and performance of our client’s applications both on-premise and in the cloud.


Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with a small team to design, implement, and maintain AWS CI/CD pipelines for applications on-premise instances on AWS and in AWS the cloud.
  • Linux administration. Including configure, manage, and optimize Linux servers to support our client’s applications.
  • Implement infrastructure as code (IaC) practices using tools like Terraform or Ansible to automate server provisioning and configuration.
  • Monitor the health and performance of our systems and applications, and proactively identify and resolve issues.
  • Manage and enhance the collection, aggregation, and forwarding of metrics and logs to observability and monitoring platforms.
  • Continuously improve the observability of our systems, particularly for real-time data streams, by implementing monitoring solutions and alerting mechanisms.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure and deployment issues affecting market data delivery.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Experience with network switch configuration and management.
  • Familiarity with multicast or UDP streaming applications, especially in the context of data streaming across UDP.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Certifications in relevant areas (e.g., AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, any Amazon or AWS certifications) are a plus.
  • Also, any Site Reliability Engineers (SRE) with experience with on premises Linux servers , Unix Admin and cloud skills, and switching skills should definitely apply. Join an advanced and sophisticated team of software engineering and software architecture experts focused on this exciting product using Data Streaming to the max, C++ Linux kernel bypass, AWS ON Premises, Solar Flare NICs, UDP, TCP and a smoking hot/fast gRPC API on the Amazon Cloud/AWS.

Requirements:

  • Strong proficiency in Linux server administration and shell and BASH scripting.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP. (AWS used here)
  • Expertise in building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, or Travis CI, or AWS CodeDeploy.
  • Familiarity with infrastructure as code (IaC) tools like Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, or Ansible , or Puppet, or Chef.
  • Experience with containerization technologies (Docker) is a plus.
  • Knowledge of monitoring and observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack, or any others tailored for streaming data.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills in the context of real-time data delivery.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Employment Type: Regular Full-Time


Salary Range: $125,000 – 140,000 / year
