Overview of Role:

Reporting to the Project Engineering Manager, this role will be a member of the Project Engineering Team within Product Development. This role will develop products that enable the future of performance fit and participate in the full product development process from initial concept generation to production. This role will be the technical leader and project manager for mid-complexity New Product Development projects and serve as the link between multiple active projects and various internal and external stakeholders.


Core Responsibilities:

  • Reflect and role model BOA’s vision, values and Leadership Model and demonstrate passion for our mission across the Product Development team and rest of the organization.
  • Manage our mid-complexity New Product Development projects (Level 3 and below), working with project teams to create project plans and working with Product Line Director to obtain approval of plans.
  • Execute projects within our Product Development framework, while always advocating for continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Manage, motivate, and inspire a cross-disciplinary team that includes Design Engineering, Industrial Design, Prototyping, and Testing team members.
  • Build and maintain control of project master schedules, managing resources effectively to meet project deadlines.
  • Coordinate deliverables from within the project team and from others such as Commercial and Marketing.
  • Lead ongoing communication with stakeholders, vendors, and contract manufacturers.
  • Leverage creative problem-solving methods to develop products that deliver meaningful benefits to our consumers.
  • Conduct risk assessments and manage overall timing and prioritization of tasks and activities.
  • Direct component failure analysis and resolution.
  • Provide part design support and direction to Design Engineers.
  • Participate in design reviews with a focus on assessing manufacturability, installation, and function.
  • Manage and execute internal testing of assigned projects, in both a hands-on capacity and in partnership with the Testing team.
  • Conduct data review and analysis, and present to project team and stakeholders.
  • Manage and support tooling construction in Asia.
  • Coordinate and oversee pilot runs and production ramp-up efforts in Asia as needed for mass-production readiness.
  • Help grow and evolve our relationship with Brand Partners by supporting priorities across the Product Development team.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering field.
  • 2+ years experience in project management of new product development.
  • 3+ years of product development experience.
  • Experience with mechanism or part design.
  • Intermediate experience with CAD drawing creation and 3D CAD model evaluations (we use SolidWorks and OnShape).
  • Hands-on laboratory and/or field-testing experience.
  • Ability to collaborate and build relationships with diverse groups of people across the globe.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally, up to 10%.
  • Ability to occasionally take phone calls and emails during non-traditional hours and over weekends, due to work with global teams.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience working with overseas contract manufacturers, ideally Asia manufacturers.
  • Finite Element Analysis (FEA) experience.
  • Experience with plastic part design.
  • Experience with plastic and/or metal part manufacturing.

Overview of Compensation and Benefits:

  • Budgeted salary range: $82,000 - $90,000
    • We will determine salary based on skills and experience in relation to the function of the role, as well as equity to any other employees with similar experience in the same or similar role.
    • This role is also eligible for a 10% annual bonus.
