Job Responsibilities
With our Agency's mission to support the recovery of people with mental illnesses, we provide a complete array of medical and support services for children, adults, and families throughout South Carolina.
This position is located at the Department of Mental Health, Pee Dee Mental Health Center, 125 E. Cheves Street, Florence, SC 29506.
Under limited supervision, you will provide clinical assessments, crisis intervention, therapeutic services, and referral services to adults, children, and families referred by and/or involved with the Florence Police Department and other local law enforcement agencies.
State Minimum Requirements: A Master's Degree in Guidance, Counseling, Social Sciences or a related field.
Agency (Facility) Minimum Requirements: A Master's Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or Social Sciences. Must be licensed in SC or eligible for licensure and willing to work towards licensure.

- Utilize clinical skills to provide mental health screening, assessment, and crisis intervention to children, adolescents, and adults identified by local law enforcement as potentially having mental health concerns. Arranges for appropriate referrals and dispositions for cases requiring a different level of care. Position is housed in the Florence Police Department.
- Provides other treatment-related services, and trauma-informed interventions to individuals while functioning within a community policing model that includes riding along with Florence Police officers in the community, staffing calls to determine appropriate next steps, deescalating community members as appropriate, and offering collaborative follow-up practices. Cultivates interagency cooperation with LE officers and dispatch personnel. Engage in case consultation with LE officers and victim advocates to conduct triage and provide recommendations to identify appropriate services.
- Participates in community outreach events and provides education to partners regarding services provided.
- Participates in clinical supervision, treatment team meetings, and professional development opportunities.
- Employee will adhere to SCDMH and PDMHC Corporate Compliance and HIPPA Standards to include: Notes signed, Education, responsibility, auditing standards, enforcement and reporting.
