WHAT IS THIS ROLE ABOUT? As our new Senior Software Developer/Engineer, you will join our talented Development team in building Vista Higher Learning’s unique and industry-leading online language education products.

OUR TECHNOLOGY STACK

  1. Languages/Frameworks: Ruby/Rails, JS, Vue
  2. Persistence: MySQL, Postgres, Redis, ElasticSearch
  3. Hosting: AWS

IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL:

  1. Participate in all aspects of the software development lifecycle - from project planning and design to implementation and release.
  2. Collaborate with team members to deliver development projects on time and with efficiency.

You Must Have (minimum Required Skills & Experience)

  1. High School Diploma/GED + required work experience.
  2. 7+ years of Software Engineering experience developing large-scale systems.
  3. Experience building and deploying high-capacity applications in cloud environments (AWS or GCP).
  4. Experience using source code management systems (i.e. Git/Github, or similar).
  5. Experience with Ruby/Rails.

IDEAL IF YOU HAVE or ARE (PREFERRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE)

  1. A strong understanding of how to architect solutions for scalability and performance.
  2. Experience with SQL, Postgres, Redis, Elasticsearch and command line *nix environments.
  3. Experience in ed-tech, education, language-learning or similar industries.
  4. Mentor level knowledge of modern JavaScript, CSS, HTML.
  5. Familiarity with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) and best practices for meeting 2.1 AA compliance.

LOCATION

Boston/Remote Hybrid: Ideal candidate will be located within close proximity to our Boston office location and be willing to work a Hybrid schedule. Fully remote candidates may be considered. Relocation assistance is not available. Position requires current residence within the United States of America.
