Job Title: NDT Level II InspectorCompensation: $46 an hour and $120 a day in per diemJob DescriptionWe are seeking a qualified NDT Level II Inspector proficient in PT(II) and VT(II) methods. Candidates must have documented qualification/certification to the Level II requirements for ASNT's SNT-TC-1A, 2001 Edition or later. Inspectors must have passed written general theory and procedure-specific examinations as well as practical examinations demonstrating their ability to operate the necessary NDT equipment and analyze the results. A visual acuity exam using Jaeger 1 letters at a distance of not less than 12 inches within the last year is also required.ResponsibilitiesConduct non-destructive testing using PT(II) and VT(II) methods.Pass written general theory and procedure-specific examinations.Pass practical examinations demonstrating the ability to operate necessary NDT equipment.Analyze and record results from NDT tests.Pass a visual acuity exam using Jaeger 1 letters at a distance of not less than 12 inches.Maintain a minimum of 4 years of documented, continuous experience as a certified inspector in the applicable inspection methods.Provide current certification documentation containing training and experience records, results of all current examinations, and a record of vision tests.Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations related to the shipbuilding industry.Work with safety harness and respirator as required.Essential SkillsMinimum 4 years of NDT experience.Current VT and MT certifications showing Level II.Documented training hours.Familiarity with OSHA regulations relative to the shipbuilding industry.Additional Skills & QualificationsAbility to pass additional general and specific exams administered by Newport News.Ability to pass practical exams administered by Newport News.Ability to pass additional vision and color distinction exams administered by Newport News.Why Work Here?Join a world-class team in the largest shipbuilding company in the world, offering a dynamic and challenging work environment. The climate is hot and muggy during summer and cool during winter. Work will be performed on Navy vessels or in a shop environment.
