Job Overview:
An established real estate development firm is seeking a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead the company's financial operations and strategy. This role, based in Miami, is suitable for candidates with a strong background in financial management, particularly within real estate. Key Responsibilities:
Financial Leadership and Strategy
- Partner with the CEO and executive team to set the company’s financial strategy and business objectives.
- Support the development and implementation of financial strategies that align with the company’s growth and development goals.
- Oversee the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts, including project-specific budgets and overall corporate expenses.
- Manage cash flow planning and financial projections to ensure sufficient funding for business operations and development projects.
- Collaborate on setting long-term organizational goals and financial plans, providing input based on financial insights.
- Build relationships with key financial stakeholders, such as lenders and investors, to support the company’s financing needs.
Financial Reporting and Analysis
- Lead the finance and accounting team to maintain accurate financial records and reporting systems.
- Deliver timely and comprehensive financial reports to the executive team and Board of Directors.
- Monitor financial performance against budgets and provide actionable recommendations for improvement.
- Manage the company's annual audit, tax filings, and compliance with financial regulations.
- Develop financial tracking systems for monitoring project-related activities and overall business performance.
Internal Controls and Compliance
- Implement and oversee internal controls to ensure adherence to financial policies and safeguard company assets.
- Regularly update financial procedures and policies to reflect best practices and regulatory changes.
- Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements related to finance and development activities.
Project Financing and Development Oversight
- Work closely with the development team on financing strategies for new projects.
- Assist in the negotiation and structuring of project financing, including underwriting and closing transactions.
- Provide guidance on transitioning projects from development to operational phases.
- Manage cash and investments to balance risk, return, and liquidity.
- Support risk management initiatives, including insurance renewals and risk mitigation efforts.
Team Leadership and Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop a finance team of 7-10 professionals, fostering a culture of high performance.
- Promote collaboration across departments, ensuring alignment on financial goals and objectives.
- Encourage professional growth within the team and support career development opportunities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required; CPA or advanced degree is a plus but not mandatory.
- 7+ years of financial management experience, ideally within the real estate or development industry.
- Experience in a senior finance role, such as VP of Finance, is highly valued.
- Strong financial analysis and budgeting skills, with a hands-on approach to problem-solving.
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
- Bilingual (English / Spanish) capabilities are a plus.
