In our programs, we create a holistic approach to recovery and rehabilitation while ensuring that our building is a safe haven for men, women and children who have experienced homelessness.
This position will provide outreach services and case management to those experiencing homelessness. This position is a critical part of helping people get connected to the right resource and show the love of Jesus Christ.

    • Assist with people experiencing unsheltered homelessness and need assistance
    • Assist in connecting people to the Lighthouse or other shelter options
    • Learn and understand what resources are available for people experiencing homelessness to direct people to the best resource for them.
    • Refers people to appropriate internal and external resources (mental health, housing, legal, etc.)
    • Provides services focused on enhancing people's ability to independently problem solve, utilize effective coping skills, and manage and self-coordinate own care
    • Utilize the Community Information Exchange (CIE) and the Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) to understand the history of person being served.
    • Responsible for carrying a case load ranging from 17-25
    • Use a Trauma Informed Care approach and assist in creating a Trauma Informed environment.
    • Meets regularly with those on the case load to provide support, assess progress, and troubleshoot barriers toward overall wellness and success. Collaboratively facilitates establishing goals.
    • Demonstrates a measurable understanding and implementation of trauma informed practices and Motivational Interviewing techniques while interacting with the case load in the delivery of services.
    Lead Designation
    • Having a bachelor's degree or higher level of education.
    • Have a certificate or training that enhances outreach.
    Have 5 or more years as a homeless outreach worker. (Lived experience counts towards this experience)

Education: Minimum AA Social Services, Psychology, Human Development, Ministry or related field from an accredited institution (or commensurate experience, equating to 1 year).
Experience: Experience with individuals experiencing homelessness, various addiction challenges, mental illness and/or dual diagnosis (1 years is preferred). Nonprofit experience preferred.
Skills and Abilities: Calmly and sensitively employ appropriate de-escalation techniques with residents; working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook); typing (min 35 wpm); coordinate and/or direct a variety of complex tasks and assignments simultaneously and successfully; exercise good judgment and make sensible decisions; attentive to detail; prioritize effectively; effective oral and written communication skills; eagerness to learn and be trained; work both independently and as part of a team; provide information to public by answering questions and requests; regular, timely attendance.
Language: Bilingual preferred
Travel/Transportation : The incumbent must travel on a regular (or periodic) basis, as the job requires. The incumbent must have reliable transportation (public transportation may be acceptable depending on the purpose of travel). If the incumbent receives authorization to use a Mission vehicle to perform duties, he or she must present a current California driver's license and good driving record to be placed on the Mission's insurance policy.
