- Maintain confidentiality of patient information per HIPAA laws
- Escort patients to and from exam/treatment rooms
- Triage patients as necessary
- Administer vaccines and injections
- Record patient data prior to the physician's visit, including but not limited to, vital signs, height, weight, allergies, and medication changes
- Obtain necessary patient records and verify consent prior to treatment or procedures
- Assist physicians with exams and a wide variety of procedures, including but not limited to injections, dermatologic procedures, pelvic exams, EKGs, eye exams, managing dressings, POC lab tests, and performing x-rays (training provided)
- Administer medications orally, vaginally, rectally, subcutaneously, intramuscularly, and intradermally
- Prepare and stock exam/treatment rooms and order supplies as needed
- Maintain proper disinfection protocols
- Schedule patient tests, procedures, and follow-up appointments
- Complete prior authorizations for medications and diagnostic imaging
- Complete all forms used by the provider, including but not limited to, growth charts, MPE, pap forms, cytology-pathology forms, etc.
- Phone in prescriptions and distribute proper medications as ordered by the provider
- Other duties as necessary
- High school diploma or equivalent, required
- Associates degree in Medical Assisting, preferred
- One of the following or similar qualification is preferred: Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Graduate of Medical Assisting Program (MA), Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA), or Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)
- 1-2 years of experience in internal medicine, or primary care settings required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification, required
- Must pass Avance Care Competency Check (Medical Knowledge Assessment and Vaccination Knowledge Assessment)
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Strong computer skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Team player
- Efficient time management and workload prioritization
- Strong multitasking skills
- Medication knowledge
- Vaccination knowledge
