Under the supervision and direction of the Collaborating Physician, Clinic's Advanced practice providers and Sr. Administrative Manager, and in accordance with the rules and regulations of Massachusetts governing Nurse Practitioner (NP) practice, the RN will support the Breast Section in the Division of Gastrointestinal and Oncologic Surgery.

In the breast surgical oncology practice, we are looking for a RN with experience and knowledge of this specialty who is familiar with working in a tertiary/academic hospital setting to join our fast-paced busy outpatient clinical practice.

The RN will help facilitate the intake and triage of patients for assigned faculty, including working closely with their provider and support staff teams to triage patient symptoms, facilitate access to the clinic, return patient calls, assist with medical prior authorizations, respond to patient portal messages, provide patient post-operative clinical wound management and assisting in office procedures and help to assist in clinics as directed.

Skills and Experience:

  • Able to prioritize promptly to respond to competing demands with a complex patient population.
  • Experience working with Epic care preferred.
  • Outpatient triage skills preferred.
  • Skills in management of surgical wounds and drains preferred.
  • Safety/Compliance: Knowledge in aspects of safety applicable to position; Knowledge of and compliance with institutional, JCAHO, HIPAA, and other regulatory bodies' standards.
  • Time Management: Exceptional organizational skills and ability to organize time and priorities effectively, asking for direction when appropriate. Flexibility to handle multiple tasks and deadline pressures.
  • Skills to work independently but also in collaboration with surgeons and APPs for clinical decisions.
  • High level of skills in communication with patients and family members showing a high level of respect and empathy.


Education/Degree:

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing required.


Licensure, Certifications, or Registration:

  • Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
  • Active Nursing License.
  • Certification- Basic Life Support (BLS).
