As part of a diverse and hardworking team of specialists, you will directly support Blue Origin’s success through leading pivotal integrated digital tool initiatives that support effective development, test, verification, certification and operations across a diverse portfolio of liquid engine programs. You will champion and guide effective solutions that address technical processes, methodologies and tools for system engineering and product development. You will help develop engineering capabilities within the team as we influence how the Engines Business Unit executes in order to achieve our mission!

Responsibilities:

  1. Establish, facilitate, document and improve processes and tools specific to propulsion engineering consistent with industry standard processes while maintaining the speed, agility and efficiency of a startup operation. The processes established will support collecting vital compliance data, improve cycle time, user acceptance, and reduce defects and rework.
  2. Act as a systems integrator between multiple tool development teams to make sure the organization as-a-whole is optimized.
  3. Work with internal customers to analyze business processes and tools to define gaps and opportunities - anticipate business needs with proposals and system solutions.
  4. Define and shape requirements, workflows, and concepts that will be implemented by development teams, while ensuring that the system of tools be optimized.
  5. Develop strategies and approaches to enable capabilities of the future.
  6. Mentor and educate Blue Origin employees on propulsion engineering processes and methods. Develop and present training materials.
  7. Develop and leverage relationships with subject matter experts and leadership to identify business problems and opportunities.
  8. Work with innovative technologies in a wide variety of business areas (e.g., engineering, analysis, manufacturing, testing, verification).
  9. Develop and communicate tool roadmaps and plans to leadership and stakeholders.
  10. Evaluate, implement, and manage commercial software purchases and deployment in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications:

  1. B.S. degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Aerospace engineering.
  2. 10+ years of systems development, project management experience, and/or process improvement experience.
  3. Experience working in digital transformation, digital engineering, PLM tools, or tools development.
  4. Ability to communicate and work effectively and lead teams, demonstrated execution and integration skills.
  5. Highly knowledgeable of systems engineering practices, integration processes, and mission/safety critical systems.
  6. A detailed understanding of the objectives & value of Systems Engineering.
  7. Consistent track record of resourcefulness and success from previous assignments and working with interdisciplinary and multi-functional teams.
  8. Self-directed and able to balance several tasks at one time.
  9. Support up to 10% domestic travel to engage key partners and support training.
  10. Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.
  11. Knowledge of Jira, Confluence, and Agile Frameworks.
  12. Experience with software development, data analytics or scripting.
  13. Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Desired:

  1. MS degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Aerospace engineering.
  2. Ability to communicate at all levels within a matrix organization - Experience working with senior leadership and key stakeholders to manage business changes.
  3. Experience modeling using UML, SysML, arc42, or BPMN.
  4. Experience in data analytics, scripting, or programming.
  5. Ability to develop software prototypes, scripts or data analyses.
  6. Experience developing applications around enterprise systems (e.g., Windchill, Doors, ERP, MRP) and their APIs.
  7. Experience working with User Experience Designers, quality engineers, data engineers, data scientists.
  8. Knowledge of Jira, Confluence, and Agile Frameworks.
  9. Experience working in large aerospace organizations.
  10. Experience working with Aerospace Systems Engineers.
  11. Experience developing applications around data pipelines and digital engineering.
  12. Experience making data-driven decisions.

Compensation range for on-site WA applicants is $136,467 - $200,151. Compensation range for on-site CA applicants is $136,467 - $200,151. Other site ranges may differ.
