The Seppic, Inc Richmond Manufacturing site, opened in 2020, is located near Richmond, Virginia, USA. The plant specializes in producing ingredients for cosmetic and pharmaceutical products. It has enhanced our proximity to our North American customers and increased our manufacturing capabilities worldwide.

The facility has obtained ISO 9001:2015, EFfCI and RSPO certification.

The Director of Manufacturing is accountable for the execution of manufacturing operations in accordance with the manufacturing schedule and with respect to the budget. Responsibilities will include:

  • Quality of products manufactured and for the compliance with the Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) for Cosmetics & Pharmaceutical Ingredients.

  • For the health and safety of employees and subcontractors in the plant.

  • For the compliance with concerned laws, in particular environmental laws and permits.

  • For ensuring a good level of plant security and Intellectual Protection of the plant.

  • For maintaining the plant in a good safe of cleanliness and repair.

  • For ensuring that expenses are optimized to ensure a good competitiveness.

  • For plant organization to ensure a good compliance with production schedule.

Main activities:

  • In charge of people management in accordance with HR policies to hire & ensure adequate training of employees and ensure the plant organization.

  • Represents the plant with local authorities & stakeholders.

  • Leads a prevention risk policy in different fields of HSE (Health, Safety, Environment) in accordance with Air Liquide Safety Policy.

  • Ensures a good compliance with Good Manufacturing Practice (FDA, EFFCI).

  • Focuses on customer satisfaction and makes investigations for each customer complaint.

  • Provides monthly reports regarding Quality, HSE, supply and costing.

  • Motivates staff to improve all plant performances (Cost and delay, quality, safety).

  • Justifies investment requests to the board and ensures that investment projects have no overtime and no overcosts.

Director of Manufacturing Duties:

  • This position also ensures that the manufacturing leadership team understands and supports the strategy, and that the manufacturing plant is fully operational and staffed to ensure success.

  • Develops, communicates and executes our manufacturing strategy through the leadership of the team responsible for our production facility.

  • Successfully leads and manages all operations and functions within manufacturing including safety, productivity, budgets, quality and continuous improvements.

  • Ensures plant is appropriately staffed and cGMP compliant.

  • Creates a culture that drives high quality manufacturing which adheres to regulatory requirements and integrates best practices.

  • Develops metrics to drive performance.

  • Communicates metrics and partners with team to analyze, assess and respond to inconsistencies or lower performance levels.

  • Responsible for developing and managing the Manufacturing budget, including long-term capital investment strategy to ensure manufacturing plant is fully operational while aligning with budget.

EDUCATION

  • Master’s degree or Bachelor’s in chemistry, chemical engineering, mechanics or equivalent.

EXPERIENCE

  • Strong experience in a process industry at a management level (manufacturing or maintenance).

  • A successful experience in chemical unit start up is appreciated.
