Description

Summary:

The Project Engineer will assist the project team in the overall execution of projects in accordance with the established budget, schedule, contract plans and specifications. Working in conjunction with other staff, the Project Engineer will ensure the quality and timeliness of project construction and completion. This position may be performed from a site office location.

The salary range for this position is $93,089-$157,042/year, please note this is a tiered position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities : (including but not limited to)

  • Assist with the administration of General Contract and Subcontract
  • Assist with the creation and ongoing support of Construction Scheduling
  • Material & Equipment - procurement and expediting
  • Project cost review, reporting, updating, and accounting
  • Review and processing of subcontractor invoices and payments
  • Participation in and documentation of project coordination meetings
  • Supervision and coordination of subcontractors' field installations
  • Review change proposal pricing from subcontractors
  • Prepare change proposal pricing for self-performed work
  • Change order documentation and associated cost reporting and maintenance
  • Maintenance of As-Built plans
  • Monitor and document job site safety and accident prevention
  • Assists with project closeout
  • Assists with the development and administration of project budgets and fiscal controls, contracts, and quality control provisions
  • Manage the completion of assigned tasks, including plan preparation, field staffing, development of scopes of work for subcontractor quotes and oversight of subcontractors in the field, handling logistics of pre-construction submittals, pre-construction client, meetings, budgeting, invoicing, reporting, and close-out
  • Interpret field geotechnical data, review statements of work included in client request for proposal documents, review and understand as-built drawings provided by client, and manage or prepare the project deliverables
  • Support multiple projects including pre-construction tasks and field support for the Site Superintendent and Quality Control Manager which may involve some travel to project sites.
  • Prepare or assist with preparation of pre-construction submittals including work plans, health and safety plans, quality control plans
  • Review and document the processes necessary to obtain construction permits, licenses, and other requirements necessary to achieve project objectives
  • Review and provide documentation of construction technical standards, guidelines, policies, and formal regulations to ensure proposals and projects meet all appropriate requirements
  • Meet all safety responsibilities and goals
  • Implement process improvement, and tracking and reporting on changes to scope and schedule
  • Enhance company and organization reputation by accepting ownership for the team performance and adding value to assigned tasks
  • Some travel will be required in support of other projects
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management

Level Specific Responsibilities : (may include but not limited to)

Level - II

  • Provide client assistance to program and project managers; scope, schedule, and budget on projects
  • Lead teams performing project tasks, both in the office and field locations
  • Technical project execution and document preparation, peer review project documents
  • Assist with task order and project proposals
  • Up to 75% of the time may be spent conducting fieldwork, potentially in remote locations

Level - III

  • Provide client assistance to program and project managers; scope, schedule, and budget on projects
  • Lead teams performing project tasks, both in the office and field locations
  • Lead technical project execution and document preparation, peer review project documents
  • Assist with task order and project proposals
  • Manage smaller projects involving site characterization, long-term monitoring, and similar tasks
  • Up to 75% of the time may be spent conducting fieldwork, potentially in remote locations

Level - Senior

  • Provide client assistance to program and project managers; scope, schedule, and budget on
  • Lead technical project execution and document preparation, senior review project documents
  • Prepare task orders and project proposals
  • Manage projects involving site characterization, long-term monitoring, and similar tasks
  • Up to 75% of the time may be spent conducting fieldwork, potentially in remote locations

Minimum Qualifications:

All levels:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field
    • Experience may be substituted for education on a 1:1 basis


  • Ability to pass background checks by various Federal Agencies (e.g., DOD, DHS, FAA, etc.) to obtain security access badges
  • Valid Driver's License with a clean driving record, able to drive a company vehicle
  • Proficient computer skills using Microsoft Office Suite, databases such as Access, and PowerPoint
  • Adept at explaining technical aspects of fieldwork to internal and external clients verbally and in writing


Level - II

  • Three (3) to Five (5) years of working experience in construction, environmental, or engineering design. Specialized training and/or an advanced degree such as MS may be substituted for work experience.

Level - III

  • Five (5) to Seven (7) years of working experience in construction, environmental, or engineering design. Specialized training and/or an advanced degree such as MS may be substituted for work experience.

Level - Senior

  • Eight (8) or more years of working experience in construction, environmental, or engineering design. Specialized training and/or an advanced degree such as MS may be substituted for work experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in Federal Government projects is highly desired.
  • Proficiency in other programs such as Microsoft Project and AutoCAD.
  • Engineer In Training
  • Knowledge and experience with Alaska Native cultures.

Working Environment:

  • May be indoors or outdoors, subject to confined spaces, changes in temperature, weather conditions, and noise levels.

Physical Demands (including but not limited to):

  • Frequent lifting, sitting, standing, stooping for prolonged periods of time, using hands/fingers requiring dexterity, should have good hand-eye coordination and motion control in coordination.
  • Reaching with hands and arms for items above and below sight level, talking, hearing, and seeing (up close, at a distance, along the periphery, with depth, color perception, and the ability to adjust focus); walking from place to place within the project location with occasional use of stairs and no elevator available; bending, pushing, pulling, and standing for up to 12 hours.
  • Frequent lifting of up to 50 pounds, such as small electrical components, equipment, and other materials.
