This job was posted by : For more information, please see: Job Summary:The Seasonal Lab Technician is responsible for utilizing proper methods of testing of asphalt, emulsion and other materials with the purpose of evaluating quality and process control and/or acceptance. The Lab Technician is key in holding the standard of product quality and providing general support wherever needed.Job Functions:Monitor and test process functions and materials to ensure products meet or exceed requirements of the appropriate agency or customerPrepare and record accurate information and forward to appropriate contacts in a timely mannerFollow quality control plans or guidelines as assignedEvaluate data for deviations or trends away from accepted standardsObtain State DOT or other required certifications in a timely mannerAssist internal and external customers in any quality related mattersSample appropriate materials, test the materials, and keep record of such for the state and other regulatory agenciesWork collaboratively with a team of chemists, engineers, and lab technicians, to jointly solve problems and accomplish team objectivesCommunicate with leadership on any product quality issues, trends or observations that impact quality, operations and customersConduct research and participate in technical training programs, as necessary, to facilitate lab efforts and increase knowledge baseThoroughly document work performed in the lab, including updated notebooks, generating reports, batch records, etc., as required by managementAlways work in a safe and responsible mannerMaintenance and calibration of laboratory equipmentRelevant Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Impeccable integrityImpeccable communication skillsDemonstrated outstanding organizational and multi-tasking skillsProblem-solving skillsThe ability to build strong Interpersonal relationships and partner across multiple levels in an organization.Self-starter that can take the Initiative and complete assignments in a self-directed manner.The ability to manage multiple projects of varying scope and size and with competing deadlines.Proficient computer and basic math skillsProven verbal and written communication skills with internal and external stakeholdersCapable of interacting successfully in variety of environments, I.e. office, plant, lab, field workHigh degree of self-confidence, poise, maturity, discretion, and diplomacySound problem solver who can quickly process complex Information and present it clearly and simply.Demonstrated behaviors of self-motivation and team orientationKnowledgeable in API standards, GPA, EPA and ASTM methods preferredBasic knowledge of lab testing methods preferredRequirements:Associates or bachelors degree in Chemistry or related disciplineWillingness to work weekends and overtimeWillingness to work second shift 3PM to 11:30PMAbility to lift 50 poundsMust be willing to wear appropriate personal protective equipment where requiredMust be able to tolerate scents common to fuels and asphaltsEOE/M/W/Vet/Disabled#LI-JV1For more information, or to apply now, you must go to the website below.
