Job Description
Performs specialized and advanced duties in support of Children's Healthcare of Atlanta's financial aid programs and services. Performs duties in an accurate, timely manner and in accordance with organizational policies and procedures.
Experience

  • 5 years of related experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in the healthcare industry
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in related field
  • Or 10 years of related experience

Job Responsibilities
  • Ensures service line charity applications are completed timely and documentation is complete to ensure system compliance.
  • Coordinates with service line to facilitate improvement in charity application process.
  • Reviews all back-end charity applications and processes approvals/denials.
  • Processes all charity adjustments, including service line and back-end write offs.
  • Approves all charity adjustments under $5,000.
  • Prepares month-end reports for charity metrics.
  • Maintains charity database.
  • Updates system charity care policy as needed.
  • Provides charity training/education to service lines and trains new directors, vice presidents, and service line leaders on charity policy and process.
  • Provides administrative support to Charity Oversight and Charity Exception committees and participates in Complex Care committee.
  • Communicates charity approvals with all key stakeholders, including Scheduling, Patient Access, and Patient Accounting.
  • Conducts quarterly meetings with Service Line Directors and Service Line Administrators.
  • Demonstrates sensitivity and compassion to all individuals seeking assistance and effectively communicates with families or community members of diverse backgrounds.
  • Demonstrates confidentiality and security protocols pertaining to an individual's income or financial criteria.
  • Maintains knowledge of and adheres to the financial assistance policy to educate, screen, and assist patients, parents, community, and departments throughout Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.
  • Creates all system estimate requests in a timely manner with utilization of Epic payment estimate or Qlikview tool based on request type.
  • Provides patients with accurate estimates of financial responsibility based on insurance coverage or eligibility for government programs within two business days.
  • Submits estimate requests to internal and external customers in a timely manner via appropriate method of correspondence (e.g., email, telephone).
  • Responds to patient/family questions regarding pricing and costs in a readily understandable manner by interpreting and explaining insurance benefits/eligibility and contract language clearly and concisely.
  • Coordinates financial counseling services when requested or applicable.
  • Maintains work queues and reports to provide data analysis.
  • Provides month-end reports for payment estimate metrics.
  • Performs audits of estimates and presents findings to all key stakeholders, including senior leadership when requested.
  • Communicates any variances within payment estimator and/or Qlikview tool and reports findings to appropriate entities in a timely manner.
  • Maintains created estimates on P drive in Payment Estimator folder for designated time frame.
  • Remains updated on changes to price estimate tool to ensure price estimates remain accurate.
