This position is the primary authority on VA education benefits and compliance, overseeing all aspects of VA benefits administration, financial management, and regulatory adherence.Major responsibilities of the SCO include working as the subject matter expert on VA educational benefits, providing guidance to students regarding federal regulations, policies, and procedures, and will act as a liaison between the university and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.Additionally, this position will oversee all VA-related compliance activities, including fiduciary responsibility and budget authority. The SCO will assume sole decision-making authority for the planning, monitoring, and management of the Annual Reporting Fee (ARF) funds, overseeing fund allocation and ensuring compliance with federal restrictions on fund usage. Further, the SCO will generate financial reports and forcasts, prioritize fund needs, make strategic budget adjustmentsmanage annual audits and maintaining meticulous records of student certifications, benefits payments, and related documentation.Additionally, the Senior VA SCO will train and supervise a Junior SCO, expanding capacity and expertise to meet current and future needs.
