This position supports all aspect of The Burke Foundation Early Childhood Center (TBFECC) and Princeton Public School (PPS) preschool expansion program in accordance with YWCA Princeton policies and NJ Department of Children and Families' (NJDFC) Office of Licensing (OOL), Grow NJ Kids, state and local departments of health, and federal and local regulations.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain an all-inclusive knowledge of The Burke Foundation Early Childhood Center (TBFECC), Princeton Public School (PPS) preschool program and summer enrichment programs and students and provide a trusted point of contact for all.
  • Support TBFECC, PPS preschool, and other programs as needed, including subbing and performing drills.
  • Maintain student's records in compliance NJ Department of Children and Families' (NJDFC) office of Licensing (OOL), Grow NJ Kids, state and local departments of health, and federal and local regulations. Support Director of Childcare's Grow NJ Kids recordkeeping.
  • Create and maintain documents and spreadsheet supporting TBFECC and PPD preschool, including fee/reduced lunch applications and update systems (PowerSchool and EZChildTrack) accordingly.
  • Support children in school and home settings, including accessing aid from a wide range of agencies, and provide regular on going assistance to support inclusion. Advocate for families of children with additional needs.
  • Communicate with TBFECC and PPD preschool families on a routine, consistent basis.
  • Promote support available among families and staff. Support access through writing letters, making phone calls, and connecting people.
  • Monitor and receive visitors at the front entrance of TBFECC building; answer phones and direct calls; accept mail and packages and manage distribution.
  • Foster program coordinate between TBFECC and PPS preschool.
  • Communicate with PPS regarding student transportation needs.
  • Schedule and attend each year:
  • 3 home visits for PPS students
  • 2-3 parent/family group meetings
  • 2-3 health & safety group meetings
  • Create and maintain pre-K transition folders (starting at enrollment) and online registration for PPS students.
  • Assist annual Tiger Camp weekend, providing childcare for out of town alumni attending Princeton University reunions weekend each spring.
  • Administer and follow-up on families survey.
  • Produce reports, track student attendance, and create rosters as needed.
  • Assist with the MultiCultural Events Calendar to be acknowledged center-wide.
  • Plan and implement Scholastic Book Fair fall and spring.
  • Work with Finance and Marketing as needed.
  • Complete 20 hours of continuing education annually by June 30.
  • Perform related duties as assigned by the Director of Childcare of TBFECC.
Skills and Requirements
  • Supervisor(s) of teaching staff must have, at a minimum, a CDA or equivalent nine (9) credits in Early Childhood or related field in the age group that the program serves.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and be able to interact professionally with school administrators, parents, children, volunteers and YWCA staff and potential participants.
  • Ability to deal with stressful situations in a positive and proactive manner.
  • Computer experience including word processing, spreadsheets, databases and internet experience essential, excel and technology adaptability.
  • Must be dependable, able to work independently, multitask, meet deadlines, strong problem solving skills and must be a team player.
  • Excellent communication skills in writing and verbal.
  • Must have strong administrative and supervisory skills.
  • Demonstrate initiative, flexibility and organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Preferred First Aid and CPR certified, but can be obtained 90 days after hire.
  • Excellent customer service with neat and professional appearance; friendliness and problem solving.
  • Ability to communicate in Spanish both orally & in written documentation
