The Quality Assurance (QA) Manager oversees the activity of the Quality Assurance department. This leader is responsible for maintaining and developing improvements to the quality management system in a manner that supports regulatory compliance, company policies, and operations. As such, they build the strongest of relationships with operational and supporting departments by being upfront and collaborative with team leaders from other departments.
This person is a transformation leader. They look at processes performed within the Quality Assurance department and identify ways to build efficiency and consistency within them. They use data as a proactive solution to identify issues. The decisions they make are bound in fact gathered from reliable sources. They understand perfection is impossible, while never faltering from their goal of achieving it.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Define, implement, and maintain quality assurance objectives that correspond to company policies and goals.
- Develop, train, and evaluate Quality Assurance team members for compliance to cGMP, SQF, BRC, HACCP and food and quality safety standards.
- Maintain all Food Safety and Quality certifications.
- Assist with third-party and customer audits
- Serve as liaison between the company and the various governmental agencies such as the FDA and Department of Health during site inspections.
- Maintain compliance with product specifications, labeling, and regulatory standards.
- Support and assist in corrective action and continuous improvement programs
- Manage, plan, and coordinate quality programs designed to ensure continuous production consistent with established standards.
- Review and update SOPs, policies, and processes regularly to ensure all quality standards comply with cGMP standards.
- Support master manufacturing record creation, batch record review, and product release.
- Participate in material review and evaluate recommendations for product disposition.
- Support change control process to ensure key cGMP documents such as product specifications and analytical methods are appropriately controlled.
- Communicate effectively with internal and external customers.
- Other duties as assigned.
WORKING RELATIONSHIP
- Reports to the Quality Operations Manager
- Communicates regularly and has a strong relationship with team members in multiple departments
- Communicates and meets periodically with other departmental leaders.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a management role showing career progression to quality management.
- Experience in dietary supplement manufacturing is a plus
- Experience in state and government audits required.
- Understanding of 21 CFR Part 117 and 21 CFR Part 111 regulations.
- Experience in participating in 2nd and 3rd party audits required.
- Experience in generating and maintaining SOP’s and forms.
- Excellent interpersonal skills – team player.
- Hard worker who is a self-starter and proactive
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- HACCP, SQF, and/or PCQI certification a plus.
- Great verbal, written, and presentation communication skills
EDUCATION
- Minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree or commensurate experience.
