WORK SCHEDULE

  • 100% FTE – 40 hours per week
  • Day Shift – UW MEDICINE ITS SERVICES CORE HOURS ARE 07:00 – 16:00 (PST), Monday-Friday

DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION

UW Medicine IT Services (ITS) is a shared services organization that supports all of UW Medicine. UW Medicine is comprised of Harborview Medical Center (HMC), UW Medical Center-Montlake Campus (UWMC-Montlake), UW Medical Center-Northwest Campus (UWMC-NW), Valley Medical Center (VMC), UW Medicine Primary Care (UWMPC), UW Physicians (UWP), UW School of Medicine (SOM), and Airlift Northwest (ALNW). ITS is responsible for the ongoing support and maintenance of the infrastructure and applications which support all these institutions, along with the implementation of new services and applications that are used to support and further the UW Medicine mission.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for the entire lifecycle of enterprise communication systems and applications
  • Provide advanced level business process analysis, requirement gathering, technical specification/design, programming, testing, and production installation/configuration
  • Provide advanced level system support, implementation, documentation, and maintenance of complex applications, infrastructure, vendor-packaged systems, and technical solutions for UW Medicine internal and external customers across many different functional areas
  • Evaluate and make recommendations concerning various communication systems.
  • Subject matter expert in multiple technologies used (6+) by UW Medicine Telecommunication Systems and guiding more junior Engineers in more complex issues
  • Working with subject matter experts in other areas of UW Medicine to configure and integrate telecommunications systems with the technologies and systems they manage to achieve UW Medicine strategic goals
  • Performing the role of technical lead for high priority, complex, projects with an estimated duration of 6+ months and 500 or more hours per project; these projects would have increased visibility and impact at the UW Medicine wide-level and may require the Engineer to assist Project Managers in defining technical aspects and requirements of a project solution
  • Learning new technologies and assisting more junior engineers in continuing education
  • Creating enterprise designs, providing technical review for enterprise changes, and training more junior engineers on specific platforms and technologies
  • Troubleshooting and collaborating with vendor, Support Engineer, or other UW Medicine technical teams using vendor provided documentation and processes and creating departmental procedures if required, reviewing and correcting internally generated documentation to ensure it is technically appropriate and meets all UW Medicine technical and security standards

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or related field or equivalent combination of education/experience
  • 5+ years of communications systems experience to include:
  • 5+ years hands-on experience with a combination of the following:
    o Enterprise PBX and communication platforms
    o SIP routing configuration
    o Communications voice routing configuration and implementation
    o VoIP and SIP device programming and deployment
    o Script or vector-based routing experience
    o Integration of communications systems with middleware applications
    o Client and Server applications management and integration
    o Communications systems application maintenance/support, configuration, and implementation
  • 4+ years system analysis experience, including requirements gathering, functional design, and technical design
  • 4+ years hands-on experience with communications system call-center technologies
