This is where innovation meets execution – we are looking for a stellar Cloud Enablement Architect with a strong engineering focus to be part of our journey. You will play a vital role in defining the process, architecture, and execution of onboarding additional Northern cloud products into the evolving public cloud portfolio. This includes engagement with foundation cloud platform and shared service product owners, as well as ongoing dialogue and solution design with Line of Business, architects, developers, and operators – jointly preparing and facilitating the initial delivery of the public cloud into our production locations. You will also help plan product roadmaps and sequencing of work for our growing cloud journey.

Your key responsibilities include:

  1. Cloud architecture planning and implementation to include IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS offerings.
  2. Documentation of cloud service offerings - contribution of expertise to technical architecture diagrams.
  3. Interfacing with internal technical leadership and communicating technical concepts clearly.
  4. Identifying efficiencies in service offerings and applying innovative solutions.
  5. Adapting infrastructure to security requirements and understanding impacts across large-scale systems.
  6. Accelerating the onboarding process of additional Northern product applications into the Public Cloud portfolio while establishing co-ownership of the end-to-end product pipeline between cloud development and our engineering units.
  7. Further standardizing and establishing scaling models for product onboarding into the Public Cloud portfolio.
  8. Enabling new deployment options, e.g. onto Azure, AWS, or GCP.
  9. Accelerating the efficiency of setting up new environments which are compliant and feature ready for application product teams.
  10. Building healthy cross-relationships to architects, product owners, and engineers of other Northern Trust products and areas.
  11. Fostering performance and collaboration of a virtual team of professionals.

  12. Platform architecture.
  13. Security architecture - identity and access management, data loss prevention.
  14. Data architecture - different data models and approaches (relational, NoSQL, data mesh, lakes/warehouses).
  15. Proven experience modernizing from legacy technologies to cloud (including midrange and mainframe platforms).
  16. Cloud experience (Azure preferred).
  17. Platform as a Service - Containers, Kubernetes.
  18. Security - Firewalls, Networks.
  19. Data platforms - data pipelines, data fabric, database platforms.
  20. Infrastructure as a Service - supporting re-paving and patching of VMs.
  21. Agile application delivery experience.
  22. Scrum or other agile methods to deliver against product backlog.
  23. Strong DevOps pipeline experience (GitHub preferred).

Experience:

  1. At least 10 years in software delivery and architecture.
  2. Minimum of Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline.
  3. Applicable cloud certifications.
