Position Summary

Benesch is proud to announce the opening for a Pricing Analyst in our Chicago office! This position is hybrid and has work from home flexibility. The Pricing Analyst is part of the Client Value Team and works closely with Intake, Client Account Services, Finance, and Marketing teams to manage rate exceptions and pricing arrangements, assess discounts and AFAs requested during the intake process, improve client/matter coding hygiene, assist with client/matter opening and closing, analyze fee erosion causes and effects, streamline legal operations functions, and support collections efforts. This position requires continuous learning through legal industry organization/society membership and keeping pace with developments related to rate/fee structures, revenue assurance, coding, legal operations, matter management, technology, and data analysis.

Essential Functions

  • Ensures the integrity of client/matter setup components such as agreed rates and alternative billing arrangements, as well as matter type, task/phase, industry and all other coding structures.
  • Monitors and recommends modifications to existing rate exceptions; identify and correct coding inaccuracies on existing clients/matters.
  • Conducts post-matter fee analyses to determine performance to initial fee arrangement.
  • Provides reporting/support services in collaboration with LPM professionals, practice directors, billers, collections specialists, attorneys, and firm management.
  • Maintains a reference library of best practices, including successful structures/tools utilized.
  • Conducts and/or assists with market research related to rates, competitor/peer firms, pricing structures, procurement, operations and similar trends in the legal industry.
  • Gathers and analyzes data for proactive and responsive fee proposals/RFP responses.
  • Runs ad hoc data pulls for attorneys and the firm's professional teams.
  • Spearheads proactive attorney/client communications announcing the firm's annual rate increases.
  • Communicates with attorneys and professional staff in a concise, effective, and professional manner.
  • Works on special projects, as requested.

Qualifications

The Pricing Analyst must have a Bachelor's degree in financial analysis or related field, and a minimum of 2 years of experience in professional services finance and/or project/operations management. A demonstrated skill in working effectively in cross-functional teams, meeting time-sensitive deadlines, and interacting with individuals at all levels of the organization is essential. This Analyst must have a broad analytical skills set, including the ability to work with mathematical concepts and interpret a variety of financial and statistical data. Strong technical skills, including a high level of proficiency in Microsoft Word, PPT, Excel and data visualization tools are required. Must have a demonstrated ability to read, analyze, and interpret business and professional publications; prepare business correspondence, proposals and reports; distill data and analyses to simply and effectively present information to a range of stakeholders; and pose and respond to questions to/from attorneys and professional staff. Must have a high level of interpersonal, communication, presentation, and collaborative skills.
