Our Business Development teams focus on building partnerships with new Groupon merchants. We spend our days learning about what makes small-business tick and how to craft unique marketing campaigns to help them reach their targeted audiences. As a Divisional Sales Manager (DSM) on the Business Development team, you'd be responsible for leading and developing a sales team, maintaining high productivity levels, achieving sales expectations and continuing to grow the organization. Our DSMs are consistently improving sales processes and tools to help their teams exceed their sales targets and optimize the offerings within their specific business category.
You’ll spend time on the following:
- You will attract, develop, motivate, lead, and retain a team of inside sales professionals to meet and exceed short- and long-term sales goals
- You will drive clear communications on expectations, remove any roadblocks, and hold sales team accountable for results
- You will ensure results from sales representatives to ensure they are meeting or exceeding goals
- Communicate the best approach to sales teams on merchant business categories and sectors, including (but not limited to): products and/or services, consumer demographics and ratings, points of competitive differentiation, merchant economic models, revenue and profit drivers
- Prioritize and allocate resources to ensure adequate support for sales representatives
- Monitor and align daily activities on sales volume, deal quality, and pipeline management
- Train team on documented sales process and strategy to optimize the value of their outputs - both from a qualitative and quantitative perspective
- Lead sales team to drive knowledge-development and company-wide best practice-sharing
We’re excited about you if you have:
- Bachelor's degree required
- 3+ years of B2B sales management experience
- Sales training and development experience a plus
- Track record of strong performance, growing sales teams, and increasing profitability
- Evidence of successfully leading others to exceed measurable sales and revenue targets
- You're comfortable in ambiguous, dynamic environments
- You have a fearless enthusiasm for sales and ability to make things happen
- You're analytical and able to make decisions based on real data
- You're adaptable and can think on your feet; when your team is faced with new challenges or tough sales situations, you help them face them head-on
- You have demonstrated levels of dedication and ownership required to succeed at start-up speed
This role is hybrid based out of our Chicago office two days a week.
