Job Requirements / Description

The Health and Safety Officer will be responsible for assisting, planning, and implementing safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal rules and regulations, including OSHA. The key responsibilities of this role include (but not limited to):


- Conducting accident investigations, reviewing incident reports, identifying patterns, determining root causes, and taking appropriate corrective actions.

- Performing periodic site safety audits to identify potential hazards and assess risks.

- Meeting with safety contacts at various construction projects and insurance companies to ensure

compliance and best practices.

- Conducting quarterly safety meetings

- Build positive rapport and working relationship with foremen, PM’s and CM/GC representatives

- Ensuring all employees maintain active OSHA cards, CPR, and other applicable safety trainings

- Monitoring claims and working towards successful claims resolutions.

- Developing and implementing Task-Specific Safe Work Plans and Job Hazard Analyses

- Issuing and maintaining executed Toolbox Talks.

- Implementing the Health and Safety Plan (HASP) and updating the safety handbook as needed.

- Ensuring compliance with all Federal, State, and local safety and health regulations

- Conduct safety training on topics such as OSHA, rigging & signaling, forklift operation, manlift

operation, confined space entry, etc.

- Ensuring adherence to all required OSHA standards and safety protocols, including the provision of

necessary safety equipment i.e. harnesses, hard hats, gloves, etc.

- Staying up to date with new safety trends and communicating with upper management for necessary

changes or purchases.

- Reviewing and updating safety data sheets (SDS) for hazardous chemicals.

- Implementing and managing a safety incentive program to promote safe work practices.

- Investigating near-miss incidents and implementing preventive measures.

- Participating in industry-specific safety committees or organizations.

- Developing and maintaining emergency response plans and procedures.

- Conducting regular safety drills and exercises to test emergency preparedness.

- Coordinating with external agencies for emergency response coordination.

- Conducting safety orientation for new employees and subcontractors.

- Ensuring proper record-keeping and documentation of safety-related activities.


Qualifications:

- OSHA 30 (within 5 years old)

- CPR certification

- Reasonable suspicion training

- Strong organizational and communication skills.

- Independent, reliable, and dependable.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

- Willingness to learn and participate in company-wide systems for project tracking and communication.

- Relevant certifications and training in occupational health and safety with ability to conduct training and provide certifications
