Summary
We are seeking an experienced Machinist/Tool and Die Maker to join our team in Wellsburg, WV. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, building, and repairing precision tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures for use in manufacturing processes. The Machinist/Tool and Die Maker must be able to work independently, read and interpret blueprints, and use precision measuring instruments to ensure accuracy.
Responsibilities
- Read and interpret engineering blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work pieces, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
- Design and build precision tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures for use in manufacturing processes.
- Set up and operate a variety of machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, drill presses, and grinders to produce precision parts and instruments.
- Select the appropriate cutting tools, tool holders, fixtures, and machine accessories according to the job requirements.
- Measure, mark, and scribe dimensions and reference points on material or work pieces as guides for subsequent machining.
- Verify conformance of finished work pieces to specifications using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and dial indicators.
- Repair and maintain existing tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures as needed to ensure optimal performance.
- Complete necessary paperwork and documentation such as inspection reports, maintenance records, and production logs.
- Follow safety procedures and maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certification in tool and die making preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Machinist/Tool and Die Maker in a manufacturing or machine shop environment.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting engineering blueprints, sketches, drawings, and manuals.
- Experience with a variety of machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, drill presses, and grinders.
- Familiarity with CAD/CAM software and CNC programming and operation is a plus.
- Ability to use precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and dial indicators to ensure accuracy.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods of time.
- Willingness to work overtime as needed.
