This role will be a Customer Relations Representative for Island Commodities / Island Pumping Services, a division of Baker Commodities, Inc.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for soliciting new business and maintaining the existing customer base, including various aspects of the meat, fish, food processing, and restaurant industries for hard material, grease trap services, used cooking oil collection, and repair and maintenance of drains and grease traps.
  • Communicate with customers on an ongoing basis to determine if they are receiving proper service, require additional services or equipment, and are overall satisfied with their service.
  • Meet with cancelled accounts to determine the reasons for cancellation and attempt to regain the accounts.
  • Schedule meetings with customers and set up cold calls in areas identified by the Division Manager and Procurement Operations Manager.
  • Communicate orally and in writing with customers and all levels of Company personnel, including business owners, Division management, and staff in various departments.
  • May be required to meet/communicate with City and/or County inspectors involved in the regulation and enforcement of laws and regulations pertaining to the services provided by the Company.
  • 75-90 percent of the day will require being in the field visiting new and existing customers, depending on the tasks assigned for the day/week.
  • Prepare customer setup sheets and possibly enter new customer information into the Company’s routing system.
  • Provide daily reports to the Division General Manager and Procurement Operations Manager.
  • Follow up on stops with no material picked up as identified by the drivers to determine why the stop was routed and if it needs to be re-routed.
  • Interact with others in a professional and ethical manner.
  • Follow department and company procedures.
  • Maintain regular attendance and punctuality; these are essential for the smooth operation of the company.
  • Other duties as assigned to ensure the efficient and effective operation of the business, which may change as business needs evolve.

Requirements

  • 3 to 5 years' experience and contacts in the restaurant/food industry.
  • Able to work independently.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Excel, and Word.
  • High school diploma.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable MVR.
  • Local travel up to 90%.

Physical Demands/Requirements

Constantly (over 2/3):

  • Travels to customer locations and moves throughout customer facilities such as kitchens and areas where grease collection occurs.
  • Moves materials or documents up to 40 lb.
  • Operates computer and other office productivity machinery such as calculators, copy machines, and printers.
  • Reviews documents, organizes data, and detects accuracy of information.
  • Communicates with customers and co-workers and exchanges accurate information in-person, telephonically, and via electronic devices/e-mail.

Frequently (1/3-2/3):

  • Moves throughout the office accessing files, office machinery, etc.
  • Remains in a stationary position for up to 50% or more of the time.
