Job Title: Associate Technology Director - Litchfield Public Schools, Litchfield, MN
Overview: We are seeking a dynamic and forward-thinking Associate Technology Director to join our E-12+ educational institution. As a pivotal member of our leadership team, you will play a crucial role in enhancing and supporting our technology infrastructure to meet the needs of our students, faculty, and staff. This position offers a unique opportunity for growth, with the intention of transitioning into the role of Technology Director. The ideal candidate will demonstrate leadership potential, strategic thinking, and a commitment to continuous learning and growth.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Educational Leadership or related field
- Proven experience in a similar role, preferably in an educational setting.
- Strong understanding of E-12+ educational environments and technology needs.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Proficiency in network management, cybersecurity, and educational software applications.
- Experience in project management and strategic planning.
- Certifications in technology, cybersecurity, GSuite, or equivalent are a plus.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee the daily operations of the technology department, ensuring smooth functioning of all technology systems across the school district.
- Collaborate with the Technology Director and other administrators to develop and implement a strategic technology plan aligned with educational goals.
- Manage and support network infrastructure, including servers, wireless networks, and telecommunications systems.
- Lead the deployment and maintenance of hardware and software systems, ensuring reliability and security.
- Provide technical support and training to staff on new technologies and systems.
- Evaluate and recommend new technologies that enhance teaching and learning experiences.
- Manage the technology budget effectively, ensuring resources are allocated wisely and transparently.
- Assist the district in filing for eRate funds for technology related items.
- Stay current with trends and developments in educational technology and recommend initiatives to leverage these trends effectively.
- Collaborate with the current Technology Director to understand departmental goals and initiatives.
- Prepare for the transition into the Technology Director role by learning key aspects of the position.
Pay and Benefits:
- Salary range $65,000 - $75,400, depending on experience.

Succession Plan:
This position is part of our succession planning strategy for leadership within our technology department. A successful candidate will have the opportunity to shadow and work closely with our current Technology Director to prepare for assuming the directorship role. This is a direct report to the Technology Director. Travel required to locations throughout the district.

Systems Onsite:
Cisco switches, Meraki firewall, Cisco wireless access points, ISE, Prime, Windows servers (VMWare), Linux, MacOS, iOS, Active Directory, Milestone, Bogen, Mitel VoIP, Google Education Suite, Jamf School (this is not a complete list) 1:1 Staff/Student devices MacOS,iOS.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Responsible for critical infrastructure, monitors and maintains security of critical systems.
- Maintains network devices, infrastructure & security.
- Identifies and remediates internal and external network security threats.
- Monitors system to ensure problems are detected and resolved.
- Supports district disaster recovery systems, assists in restore of system to working state if a system fails.
- Performs system maintenance procedures, (operating system patches, security hotfixes, security updates, backups).
- Ensures safety and security of information and protects systems from inappropriate access or destruction (including passwords).
- Installs, maintains UPS systems.
- Collaborates on design of network systems, special project set-ups, installation and implementation of backbone & network systems.
- Create and maintain accurate records of network, infrastructure, critical assets and documentation.
- Serves as escalation point for network-related help desk tickets or requests from technicians.
- Recommend purchases to the Director of Technology based upon current and future needs and lead eRate planning and implementation process.
- Maintain data rooms throughout the district.
- Assist in providing support and administration for the districts security camera system, HVAC, access control system (doors), intrusion detection, visitor management, VoIP.
- Understand and follow federal, state & local district policies & procedures as they relate to this position.
