About Us


Chinese Mutual Aid Association (CMAA) is a community-based 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting Chicagoland's diverse immigrant and refugee communities. Established in 1981, CMAA is a cornerstone of the Asia on Argyle corridor of the Uptown Neighborhood of Chicago with a satellite office in Elgin, IL, providing programs to serve our community across generations. We offer after-school, summer camp, and mentoring programs for young people. For adults, we provide case management and social services, education including English as a Second Language (ESL) classes, job preparation and placement services, and immigration and citizenship case assistance. We connect older adults to in-home care support and community enrichment through our Golden Age Club. Finally, we support entrepreneurs and small businesses as the only AAPI-led Small Business Development Center in Illinois.


Job Description


The successful candidate that CMAA is currently looking for will have the responsibility to manage the in-home services program that assists the elderly and people with disabilities. The in-home care services program helps seniors and people with physical disabilities by placing non-medical Home Care Aides (also known as homemakers) in their homes, allowing them to meet the unique challenges that come with aging or living with a disability in a culturally sensitive way. In addition, the successful candidate shall also be overseeing due diligence on other potential new department initiatives. The candidate will be also responsible for the Golden Age Club programming.


Essential Functions & Responsibilities

  • In-home care (Medicaid and private pay clients)
    • Manage CMAA's In-Home Care Services Department (Chicago, including BHACC, and Elgin) which serves 400+ Medicaid-eligible and private-pay clients and employs 300+ homemaker (aka home care aide/ caregiver) employees
    • Conduct strategic outreach and marketing efforts for the In-Home Care Services program in Cook, DuPage, Kane, Will counties, and other counties where our contract is applicable
    • Manage In-Home Care staff (e.g. coordinators, supervisors, schedulers, assistant managers, etc); provide direction, set goals, and conduct performance evaluations
    • Oversee contracts between the Illinois Department on Aging (IDOA), Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH), and managed care organizations
    • Monitor In-Home Services Department processes including but not limited to account receivables and billing, home care aide pre-service and in-service training, scheduling, tracking and retrieving timely service, compliance standards (ie home visits, managing TTP portal), etc
    • Process renewals for IDOA service areas, MCO contracts, and other contracts, as needed
    • Process renewals for IDPH, and other contracts, as needed
  • Golden Age Club
    • Oversee planning of Golden Age Club activities for older adults in Chicago and Elgin
    • Manage program staff (provide direction, set goals, and conduct performance evaluations
  • Overall
    • Prepare department for funder audits
    • Manage and monitor the various budgets and process check requests within the department
    • Provide regular analytical reports to the executive director(s)
    • Partner with development and grants management staff to seek diverse sources of funding as well as complete grant reports
    • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • BA or BS required. MA in Social Work, MBA, or related field preferred
  • Demonstrated management experience
  • Prior experience in preparing and managing department budgets
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills. Ability to meet people with ease, develop and maintain relationships
  • Strong organizational skills, able to work under pressure of many priorities and meet deadlines
  • Knowledge of long-range planning process
  • Desired linkage with immigrant communities
  • Proficiency in a second language (ie Chinese, Vietnamese, Lao, Thai, Filipino, Hindi, Khmer, Spanish) is a plus but not required

Work Environment

  • This job operates in a clerical, office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.

Physical Demands

  • This is a largely sedentary role, however, some filing is required. This could require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets, and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.
  • May be required to help set up and move tables and chairs for IHS activities/events.
