Job Title : Aquatics Director

FLSA Classification : Nonexempt Full Time

Reports to : General Manager

Summary/Objectives

Coordinates and conducts swim lessons for children and adults in private, semi-private, and group settings following Sportsclub learn-to-swim program guidelines and swim levels. Also responsible for all components of USA swim team including administrative duties, management of coaches, swim meets, and USA Swim organizational involvement.

  • Manage all aspects of the swim lesson programs.
  • Hire, train, schedule, and evaluate swim lesson instructors.
  • Collaborate with Sportsclub and acac Aquatic Directors and Department Heads.
  • Maintain a visible, active onsite management presence.
  • Conduct periodic meetings with Swim Lesson Instructors.
  • Provide swim lesson participants with regular communication.
  • Work with VP of Projects and Program Development on swim lesson operations.
  • Participate actively on the swim lesson project team.
  • Create and meet swim lesson revenue goals.
  • Demonstrate proper swim techniques.
  • Maintain constant control of lessons while emphasizing safety.
  • Keep attendance records and schedule lessons per club policy.
  • Follow all operational procedures for swim lessons.
  • Prepare for lessons with needed materials and equipment; clean up after lessons.
  • Teach progressive swim lessons and adhere to learn-to-swim program.
  • Communicate with participants and/or parents regarding progress.
  • Enforce aquatic and safety policies.
  • Maintain familiarity with Sportsclub programs to manage questions and communicate knowledgeably.
  • Work collaboratively with General Manager to coordinate maintenance and repairs of the pool area.

Requirements

Physical Demands

  • Ability to swim in both deep and shallow water.
  • Ability to actively participate in swim lessons using repetitive motions.
  • Ability to work in warm and humid environments with heightened noise.
  • Ability to work in both warm and cool water pools.
  • Ability to work varied shifts including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Required Competencies, Education, and Experience

  • Prior aquatics teaching or coaching experience preferred.
  • High School diploma preferred.
  • Successful completion of Starfish Instructor course within 30 days of employment.
  • Superior customer service skills; ability to work with both children and adults.
  • Creativity in finding effective teaching methods for diverse populations.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
