About the team:


We are looking for an exceptional Principal Data Scientist to join our high-powered team. We are dedicated to providing solutions at the intersection of retail and consumer health that empower Walmart's consumers, businesses, and partners to make informed decisions. You will report to the Director of Data Sciences.


What you'll do:

  1. As a Principal Data Scientist, you will lead the development of advanced data analytics, machine learning, and statistical modeling solutions to drive consumer behavior and experiences, business growth, and improve operations.
  2. You will work with cross-functional teams, including product, technology, and experts in retail and consumer health, to build actionable insights.
  3. Your expertise will play a critical role in shaping our products and services that drive key strategic initiatives and outcomes.

What you'll bring:

  1. 8+ years of experience in data science, machine learning, or analytics with a focus on the consumer health and retail spaces.
  2. Experience developing and deploying end-to-end advanced analytics solutions such as predictive modeling, search, or recommender systems using large structured and unstructured datasets.
  3. Strong programming skills in SQL and Python with expertise in libraries like scikit-learn, TensorFlow, or PyTorch.
  4. Strong understanding and experience in model assessment, validation, and performance monitoring to maintain accuracy and reliability over time.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field and 5 years of experience in an analytics-related field.
  2. Master's degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field and 3 years of experience in an analytics-related field.
  3. 7 years of experience in an analytics or related field.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Data science, machine learning, optimization models, PhD in Machine Learning, Computer Science, Information Technology, Operations Research, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Econometrics.
  2. Publications or active peer reviewer in related journals or conferences.
  3. Successful completion of one or more assessments in Python, Spark, Scala, or R.
  4. Using open-source frameworks (for example, scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch).
  5. Knowledge of implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and integrating digital accessibility seamlessly.

The annual salary range for this position is $143,000.00-$286,000.00. Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.
