A Medical Scribe's responsibilities include collaborating with physicians and performing clerical tasks like printing out lab reports or charting doctor's appointments, operating electronic health records, and anticipating the needs of the physician to ensure efficiency in a clinical setting. A Scribe will provide quality patient care services to the patients of Allergy & ENT Associates under the direction of physicians/providers and the nursing staff and supports the goals and the objectives of the Company.

A Medical Scribe's responsibilities include collaborating with physicians and performing clerical tasks like printing out lab reports or charting doctor's appointments, operating electronic health records, and anticipating the needs of the physician to ensure efficiency in a clinical setting. A Scribe will provide quality patient care services to the patients of Allergy & ENT Associates under the direction of physicians/providers and the nursing staff and supports the goals and the objectives of the Company.
Selected Duties and Responsibilities:
- Preparing and assembling medical record documentation/charts for the physician
- Updating patient history, physical exam, and other pertinent health information in the patient
- Organizing and sending all documentation to physician for review
- Fill out summaries of what was discussed during the consultation or treatment session
- Send referral letters on behalf of your patient's insurer.
- Taking notes during patient visits and documenting them in the electronic health records system, NextGen
- Learning about the medical process and using a team approach in patient supervision and documentation
- Working with a supervising Physician or Doctor to complete and submit medical records
- Communicating with patients and supervising Physicians professionally
- Completing all administrative tasks efficiently and helping the Physician take tests and give out medication
- Complies with Policies and Procedures and adheres to safety guidelines to ensure a safe work and patient care environment.
- Provides direct and indirect patient care under the direction of the physicians/providers and RN/LVN nursing staff.
- Follows office policies, procedures, and protocols as appropriate.
- Communicates effectively with other members of the health care team including accurate documentation in patient charts.
- Follows OSHA regulations and the safety guidelines of the Practice.
- Follows HIPAA policies and procedures. Respects and maintains patient confidentiality.
- Performs specific Job Activities as assigned per office location.
- Knowledge of basic nursing procedures.
- Must be precise, focused and have high attention to detail
- Skilled in completing assigned medical office procedures and tasks.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, computer skills to include Microsoft Office, Internet and EPM/EHR.
- Must be self directed and able to work independently.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program or comparable experience.
- One year medical office experience needed.
- Current CPR certification.
