About the Opportunity:
The AR Lead provides supervision, direction, guidance, support, training and oversight to AR Resources across a specific Market(s), partnering with the Operations Market Leader to ensure positive Accounts Receivable trends and results for the assigned Markets. Reports to and assists the Director of Accounts Receivable in implementing and monitoring -wide accounting, compliance and educational initiatives.
The AR Lead is an individual who is a culture champion while demonstrating excellent leadership skills, delivering consistently positive AR results, and pursuing excellence in all aspects of the role. The primary objective of the AR Lead is to provide supervision, support, guidance, and direction to a team of AR Resource partners to obtain and sustain positive AR Performance. The role will also carry additional specific responsibilities, global in nature, which will serve all Ensign SNF/ALF related partners.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Leadership:
  • Leader of AR in assigned Ensign /Companies providing direct supervision to a team of diverse AR Resources. Ability to lead different levels of employee expertise, and advance/improve their skill sets and allocate resources over expansive geographic areas.
  • Proactively works as a liaison with Operations and AR Resources to address and resolve root cause concerns contributing to poor AR performance in the facilities.
  • As warranted, escalates issues/concerns to Market Leaders/President, Executive Directors and AR Director.
  • Provides leadership in hiring, training, coaching and disciplining of AR Resources, up to and including termination, when necessary.
  • Provides financial and analytical leadership to Operations Leaders through cluster meetings and other on-site opportunities.
  • 50%-80% travel within US to provide world-class leadership and service to Operations.
  • Progressive leader and participant in State Heath Care Associations, as well as AR sub-committees when positions become available.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills at all levels.
Technical:
  • Expert level user of Point Click Care software and the Microsoft Office Suite of products including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Can design and manipulate Pivot Tables from Data Warehouse applications.
  • Knowledgeable about the Smartsheet web-based program and its functions, preferred.
  • Can design and deliver professional quality meetings and training programs.
  • Ability to understand and interpret contractual language to provide guidance to others regarding unique contracts and billing circumstances.
  • Fluent expert in SNF Consolidated Billing language and rules as defined by CMS as well as innovative payment models being developed and marketed.
  • Advanced knowledge of accounting principles and practices as well as integrated financial billing systems.
  • Advanced knowledge of Skilled Nursing and Assisted Living billing, collections, accounting and audit practices and procedures.
Analytical:
  • Analyzes, monitors, and improves all AR metrics and trends such as Cash, Bad Debt, DSO, and Credit Balances through routine communication with AR Resources and Operations.
  • Provides analysis of the AR metrics to communicate results and improvement opportunities to Operations Market Leaders/Presidents/EDs and AR Resources on a monthly basis.
  • Provides AR Resources and Operations with guidance on the development of corrective action plans related to the Business Office and/or AR metrics.
  • Can drill down into Financial Statements and provide analysis and direction to Operations on revenue and AR related transactions.
  • Developing root cause analysis and trending on factors driving AR Results.
Managerial:
  • Provides management and day-to-day oversight of the AR Resources, including: recruiting, hiring, onboarding, training, coaching, evaluating, expense reporting, compliance monitoring, directing, providing career development opportunities and ensuring competencies are met and maintained.
  • Adept at setting clear expectations, reviewing progress, providing feedback, guidance, and discipline to employees and holding them accountable.
  • Monitors and allocates AR Resources to ensure timely collection of accounts receivable and reduction of bad debt throughout the Market.
  • Actively participates in New Acquisitions, including calls and coordination of resources to ensure proper coverage and support up and through completion of CHOW acceptance/completion.
  • Ensures compliance with accounting initiatives coordinates implementation of new policies, systems and processes related to accounts receivable and works with AR Resources and Operations to ensure issues are resolved/implemented in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Conducts job responsibilities in accordance with the standards set out in Ensign's Code of Business Conduct, its policies and procedures, the Corporate Integrity Agreement, applicable federal and state laws, and applicable professional standards.
Qualifications:
  • 5+ years relevant financial and managerial experience, such as Regional or Divisional business office consulting/management for a multi-site or geographically diverse organization.
  • Accounts Receivable experience in a skilled nursing (SNF) / LTC setting
  • 2+ years' experience in multi-facility oversight role preferred
  • PointClickCare experience preferred
  • Texas Medicaid Billing and Applications preferred
  • Ability to travel
  • Able to prioritize and organize tasks at hand to meet specific deadlines
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel
  • Knowledge of state regulations
  • Presentation skills required
