About the role

As a Senior Fraud Data Scientist, you will be responsible for risk identification and development of fraud detection and prevention strategies. This individual will manage fraud rules, models, and other controls to optimize the effectiveness of fraud strategies and policies for application fraud detection while maintaining a good customer experience. This role requires prior data science and/or analytics experience in Fraud Risk management. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, highly analytical, and intensely detailed with a strong customer focus.

This position is hybrid 3 days per week in office and is located in Austin, TX.

What will you be doing?

  1. Providing fraud systems/data subject-matter expertise in the evaluation and development of new fraud systems/tools and their implementation.
  2. Supporting the delivery of predictive analytics and models to allow the development of new Fraud Management solutions and better understand fraud control strategies that may be deployed.
  3. Optimizing fraud rules to maintain a high performance level, best customer experience and strong fraud detection.
  4. Rapidly identifying emerging fraud trends through data-driven analysis and developing tactical/strategic fraud rules to address them.

What are we looking for?

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Math or equivalent years of relevant work experience.
  • Two plus (2+) years of experience in Credit Risk, Fraud Risk, Modeling/Data Science or related fields.
  • Four plus (4+) years of experience with SQL and relational databases (e.g. PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server).
  • Four plus (4+) years of experience utilizing data mining techniques using SAS, Python and other equivalent data science tools.

What will make you stand out?

  • Solid understanding of machine learning and statistical methods with their underlying theory and math.
  • 2+ years of experience as a fraud data science analyst with a background using techniques like device-related information, network-related information for detecting fraud activities.
  • 2+ years of experience in performing research to identify fraud-related trends, and present compiled information to other analysts, Artificial Intelligence experts, and senior leadership.
  • 2+ years of experience in specific fraud threat vectors in the digital space like detecting enumeration-related activities, account takeover, edge defense, and proactive detection of accounts that could potentially be compromised.
  • Exceptional ability to think both strategically and analytically.

  • Python, Git, Docker.
  • SQL (e.g. PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server).
