Overview:
We are seeking a talented MS SQL Developer/Engineer with migration experience to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in migrating complex Sybase stored procedures to MS SQL Server, while also contributing to testing strategies and regression testing efforts. Proficiency in AWS and Unix systems is also desired to enhance our data infrastructure.
Responsibilities:
• Understand and analyze existing Sybase stored procedures, identifying complex business logic and data manipulation techniques.
• Collaborate closely with the development team to ensure a comprehensive understanding of the existing Sybase system and its functionality.
• Design and develop equivalent MS SQL Server stored procedures, functions, and triggers to replicate the desired business logic and data manipulation capabilities.
• Perform data migration and validation tasks, ensuring accurate and consistent data transfer from Sybase to MS SQL Server.
• Implement security measures, user access controls, and data protection mechanisms in the new MS SQL Server environment.
• Conduct performance tuning and optimization for the migrated stored procedures and associated queries.
• Develop and execute comprehensive testing strategies, including unit, integration, and regression tests.
• Automate regression testing processes using AWS services, Unix scripting, or relevant testing frameworks.
• Collaborate with AWS and Unix administrators to ensure seamless integration and optimal performance of the MS SQL Server database.
• Document and maintain detailed migration and testing documentation, including data mapping, conversion rules, and test plans.
• Provide knowledge transfer and support to the wider team during and after the migration process.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s or Masters degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum 7 years of experience as an MS SQL Developer or Engineer, with migration experience, preferably from Sybase to MS SQL Server.
• Proficiency in Sybase stored procedures, T-SQL, and complex business logic implementation.
• Strong understanding of database design, normalization, and data modeling techniques.
• Experience with AWS cloud services and Unix systems administration, including EC2, RDS, and shell scripting.
• Demonstrated knowledge of database security, user access management, and data protection practices.
• Ability to write efficient and optimized SQL code for MS SQL Server.
• Familiarity with ETL tools and data migration processes.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration capabilities.
Nice to Have:
• Microsoft certifications such as MCSA: SQL Server or MCSE: Data Platform.
• Experience with complex data migration projects and legacy system replacements.
• Knowledge of AWS database services like RDS, Aurora, or DynamoDB.
• Understanding of NoSQL databases and big data technologies.
