DEPARTMENT SYNOPSIS:
The citizenship program is housed under the Immigrant Integration Department. Its Director co-supervise the Virginia Immigrant Integration Manager, together with CASA Virginia State Director. The Immigrant Integration Department oversees CASA's citizenship activities in Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Virginia, helping over 1,300 individuals annually to prepare their N-400 applications, have access to wraparound services, and become US citizens.
This position will be performed in Woodbridge, Virginia. The CASA Virginia State Director, who supervises the Virginia Immigrant Integration Manager, will conduct periodic meetings with CASA's Director of Immigrant Integration, in reference to program performance and will support the VA Immigrant Integration Manager in supervising this position.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Citizenship Corps Outreach Specialist is responsible for conducting outreach to identify LPRs, screen their eligibility to apply, run an assessment of related services those LPRs may need to have a successful application process, and refer them to specific services providers as required. They will use an ad-hoc no-code software application developed by CASA to collect contact information, conduct a brief initial eligibility screening, including the need for ESOL classes, citizenship classes, legal assistance, and/or affordability services. After identifying eligible LPRs and conducting the screening and assessment, the position will carry out the according procedures developed for corresponding referrals. To identify LPRs, Citizenship Corps Outreach Specialists will conduct field outreach and attend community events where potential LPRs participate in their regular, daily lives, including but not limited to as school meetings, church events, ethnic/national festivals, ethnic and immigrant-run restaurants and supermarkets, county fairs.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Duties may include, but are not limited to:
- Identify opportunities for outreach such as PTA meetings at schools, ethnic festivals and events, and partnerships with ethnic supermarkets and restaurants. Then, contact managers of those events, and coordinate attendance to conduct outreach.
- Conduct door-to-door and site-based outreach using digital technology in the field
- Conduct data entry
- Attend events to conduct outreach to LPRs, keeping a log that will include data such as event name and location, contact person, and list of LPRs that were interviewed, among other related information.
- Perform an individualized citizenship eligibility screening and wrap-up need assessment tool.
- Ensure data monitoring collection and using the no-code tool developed by CASA, and CASA's Salesforce database, to be able to produce reports to evaluate program metrics and share with stakeholders.
- Attend and participate in CASA citizenship clinics to help identified LPRs obtain appropriate services.
- Develop volunteer opportunities and recruit and train volunteers.
- Support Program Manager in maintaining partnerships with key stakeholders and developing new ones.
- Attend all required trainings offered by CASA and partners, as assigned by the Program Manager.
- Perform other job-related duties related to outreach to LPRs as assigned.
- Bachelor's Degree preferred.
- Have deep knowledge of the citizenship process.
- Must be able to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends, to attend community events.
- Bilingual English/Spanish or English/French, to attend community events.
- Good listener, to catch relevant details on conversations with community members.
- Detail oriented, to successful and complete data entry on databases.
- Ability to maintain a database and high comfort level with computer programs, including Microsoft Word and Excel, and willingness to learn other needed computer programs.
- Deep commitment to social change and to growing CASA as a membership organization in which members have decision-making authority.
- Strong interpersonal communication, problem solving and adaptability skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Demonstrated success and passion in working with families of different backgrounds, and the immigrant population with limited formal education.
- Must have reliable transportation and valid US driver's license, as tasks require weekly attendance to events around Northern Virginia, with focus on Prince William's County and Woodbridge.
- Preferred experience with community outreach and/or field canvassing to immigrant or/and black, indigenous working class families a plus
