A law firm in Boston, MA is seeking an experienced and skilled IP, Life Sciences, and Patent Agent to join their team. This position requires a robust background in life sciences patent preparation and prosecution, along with a strong educational foundation in relevant scientific fields. The ideal candidate will have exceptional writing skills and credentials from both academic and professional arenas.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare and prosecute patent applications related to life sciences technologies, including chemistry, molecular biology, biochemistry, immunology, and chemical engineering.
  • Conduct detailed patentability assessments and draft clear and comprehensive patent applications and related documents.
  • Work closely with inventors and scientists to gather and analyze technical information necessary for patent applications.
  • Advise clients on patent strategy, infringement issues, and the overall management of their intellectual property portfolios.
  • Stay up-to-date with current trends and changes in patent law and life sciences innovations.
  • Collaborate with other legal professionals within the firm to ensure the highest quality of patent protection and strategy.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in life sciences patent preparation and prosecution.
  • Advanced degree in chemistry, molecular biology, biochemistry, immunology, chemical engineering, or a related field (Ph.D. preferred).
  • Law degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Membership in the Bar in the United States.

Education and Certifications

  • Advanced degree (Ph.D. preferred) in a relevant scientific field.
  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Member of the Bar in the United States.

  • Exceptional writing skills with the ability to draft complex patent applications and related documents.
  • Strong analytical skills to assess patentability and infringement issues.
  • In-depth knowledge of patent law and procedures.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with clients and colleagues effectively.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
